Gary Bowyer - when do we judge?

He had no intention of winning that game tonight, he's treat as an extra pre season friendly and it felt just like that at the game.

 

So much right with this post, I’ve been totally underwhelmed so far this season and I’m struggling with Bowyer’s selections but we can’t keep changing managers

It feels like a poisoned chalice at the minute, Hopkin had success on his CV, Grayson too and interestingly he’s hit the ground running at Blackpool this season. Bowyer is well respected and can back that up with recent success.

They can’t all be bad managers but it appears we are more than capable of bringing out the worst in anybody and it’s a worrying trend

Has anyone demanded his sacking after a Cup game defeat though? Or the fact that he is clueless if he really believed playing Doyle up top on his own made ANY logical sense?

He continues to play players out of position (tonight it was French’s turn). But most importantly (ignoring the result tonight), he still has a worse record than Collins and Rahic. In fact, Bowyer and Drury are making Collins and Rahic look like the dream team....!

 

Collins managed for such a short spell, his record should not be used.

 

Wood can play left in a 4-4-2 until Bowyer signs someone else. Then partner Palmer and Devine in the middle, again until Bowyer signs better.

Persevering with a 4-4-2 diamond or 4-3-3 is just as bonkers. Because Bowyer neglected midfield, his hands are tied for any of the formations, not just a flat 4-4-2

 

Dire football and poor results - and some of the recruitment and selections arent helping his cause.

The guy is getting to the point where he has had a fair crack of the whip and there are no green shoots of recovery.

Agreed. Think this is our best best bet at the moment with Longridge and Mellor at full back, POC and BRE at centre half

 

So we shouldn’t use Bowyer’s L2 stats against him. We can’t include last season’s too, and now we shouldn’t consider Collins’ as 6 games isn’t enough either?

Fact is, Collins with Rahic’s squad managed 2 wins from 6 games. Bowyer has managed 2 wins in how many? And none yet this season. For someone who is agreeing we shouldn’t be so trigger happy with Bowyer, I’m not sure you were so defensive towards Collins

 

If you can't see it i'm not explaining it.

 

Devine? Please no. He’s not up to it. We would get bullied in midfield with that pairing.

Never said any of that. For some reason you’ve filled in a lot of it to get your own answer.

We should not use 6 games and judge other managers from it. It’s not enough to judge and it’s clear as to why he was sacked so soon. He should never have got the job in the first place. If you think Collins is better than Bowyer then I’ll leave you to it

 

Listening to the Radio L#@ds interview, he stated some of the players hadn’t done themselves any favours and won’t be knocking on his door this Friday.

Good.... for the first time I heard real disappointment in his voice. Forget the jokes and focus.

This result might be a blessing in disguise for Bowyer, he has to learn from it.

 

Agree with both statements, but as I said, this is the problem that Bowyer has created by not getting better players and offering news deals to the likes of Anderson, Devine and Colville.

Wood can fill the gap (a Will Atkinson role) for now. He can cross and should make us tighter on that side. The out ball would be Scannell though on the left.

Still leaves the problem area though; how to partner next to Palmer. Regardless of formation, this is the area that Bowyer has neglected and his chickens will come home to roost

 

I never said he was better. I said his record is better than Bowyer’s and that Bowyer’s decisions are just as baffling as Collins’ were

 

Jon, I'm still with GB and agree that the carousel of managers ain't necessarily a good option but I feel you are being very disingenuous to many a fan, using that Twit as a reason for some calling for Bowyer's head.

We will see on Saturday; plus somebody asked during pre season what he would bring to Bradford City, and he said winning games!! Ok, let’s see it. I am not an impatient fan, but I need to see results and his best 11. No more messing about, time to start delivering those winning games. City fans have had enough of abysmal and abject displays for nearly two years now.

 

But as you agreeing to Jon's post, you can't believe that the trend of failing managers is factored by the shadows of Edin.
