Norwich and West Ham didn’t make it easy for Liverpool and City but it mattered not. Quality and superior players should shine through.
From what I’ve seen so far of us, we are mediocre and it will be a struggle to win enough games to get us promoted. Time will tell as you say. Win the next 2 and we’ll have 8 points from 4 games which is about the ratio we need to average over the whole season to gain auto promotion.

I say it how i see it. That game today was a dire standard of football and it reminded me of just how bad league 2 football is. I'm telling you, a half decent side would have this game sewn up with time to spare. Bowyer needs to stop playing a right back at left back, a 'striker' in the 10 role and Anderson at all. He then needs to play Scannell from the start, Grimsby fans were bemused as to why he didn't start. And he desperately needs CM and possibly a left winger/midfielder, Palmer has looked poor both games but would benefit from a Lewis O'Brien type midfielder alongside him.

Could he be he is trying to ease him back in to match day gradually due to his history of injuries.

That's all I can think as otherwise he, for me, he should be an obvious starter. At this level he is a cut above the opposition and surely we need all the advantageous we can get.

Irrelevant tonight, but the next two games will be significant.

You at tonight’s game? The guy is on borrowed time already in many fans minds.

Agreed. There’s already a few who are grumbling aside from those who that’s all they do.
Bowyer has said and done all the right things in pre season. Got the fans onside. Respect the club etc.
However the spectre of last season is in the background and he needs to rid himself of that by winning games.
Many fans believe that’s best served by playing 442 and players in their correct positions. Saying that, it won’t matter if we go in a winning run.
But if we don’t he is making a rod for his own back.

Bowyer needs that first win - I don't care how he gets it, he needs it.

But unfortunately, Rahic has brainwashed a few fans into thinking that you need to change managers after every disappointment.

Edin is winning, I'm afraid, people are actually on board with his managerial carousel, a tactic that has simply never worked. But why support a manager, when you can boo and call for his head instead? Keep it going, round and round in circles, a club with no direction.

No I wasn't, thankfully. Had the kids to put to bed!

As I have posted loads on the forum already, I was disappointed Bowyer didn't use the game as a free hit to experiment with 4-4-2. We haven't won yet this season and I believe wins breed confidence. I hoped we'd have given a good account even if we were beaten. All Bowyer has done is increase the pressure on the team on Sat. It now becomes a must win game otherwise the knives will be out.

Is he still the man for the job. Yes. Only a moron would demand his sacking after a cup game defeat in which we made eight changes.

I think there has been an overreaction in some quarters to our first two league games, but it is true to say that the spectre of last season is still hanging over us and we need to get three points as soon as possible, the longer we leave it then the more the pressure will grow, especially in light of the underwhelming results towards the end of last season.

The way I see it some people overestimate how precarious the situation Bowyer is in whilst Bowyer himself seems to underestimate how precarious a situation he is in. Despite the goodwill in pre-season we haven't turned the corner yet, at the end of the day we are a football club and we haven't started to turn the corner until we start winning games of football.

To that extent I don't think that the Oldham game represents a "last chance saloon" scenario. Metaphorically I would describe the Oldham game as Bowyer's "Battle of El Alamein", to use a world war 2 analogy. After a series of reversals and crushing defeats this is our chance to draw a line in the sand and say "this is where our luck changes".

If we lose it won't be the end, but it could prove to be the beginning of the end...

Who plays on the left wing in 4-4-2?

    Who is our midfield pairing?

It's not the way to go, its just a safety net for fans as they cant think of anything else and its all theyve known

For me it’s about his thought processes rather than the result that have me doubting he’s the right man for the job.
He didn’t treat this cup game with respect despite his pre match words regarding our historic season.
Bowyer is a moron if he thinks picking fringe players in a home cup game will get the fans onside. Failure to win on Saturday and I fear for him even this early.

I agree with you about him not appreciating the importance of getting a result tonight (I think he had accepted the defeat pre-game, the way he talked up Preston, but rather than putting out a first XI, risking injuries and ultimately losing narrowly, thought he best rest the older lads, give the fringe lads a run out and, if they failed, at least he could then go to the chairman and say the backups aren't up to it and they need to release funds to bring in a few Championship lads on loan), but there is no way on earth he would be sacked even if we lose on Sat. Even if we lose 0-3 or even if all of Kop boos him off at FT, he still won't get sacked (yet).

He has a very good relationship with Rhodes and seems to get on well with Rupp. They will look at his CV and think 'he did it with Blackpool, he's triumphed through adversity'.

I also think Rhodes and Rupp will look at last seasons farce, appointing a manager late and having a slapdash pre-season, and then sacking him and having two other managers before the season is out. They want stability. Bowyer has had a clear run in pre-season and assembled his squad earlier. We did lots of early business. I know we all feel we need a couple more bodies but there is more chance of the board releasing additional/unexpected funds to him than there is of him getting the bullet.

I believe they'll want to see him build on what he has supposedly done in pre-season.

In a month or so, if the pressure has continued to build and if we're losing in the league, then the situation may change. But there is absolutely no chance he is going anyway for the moment. Two league games into the season and although we haven't torn the opposition to shreds, we've competed.

You've completely read it out of context, he hasn't said what you think he's said.
