The only relevance is age. After all, he didn't have to work like a footballer, just turned up at a meet now and then and ran 100m.

No, he was a good example of someone who kept themselves extremely fit, and I don’t recall any fans from Rochdale indicating that he was past his best or looking leggy. He wasn’t dropping down a league. He clearly came for a challenge.

Again I’m not calling this a bad signing. Though it doesn’t seem to solve any of the gaps we have in the squad, other than perhaps adding some leadership. I’m saying, we have had as many, if not more, experiences of similar aged signings dropping down to us from a higher league, and it hasn’t worked. Especially with attacking players.

 

I don't remember the slagging off. He admitted he had a difficult time here and the fans didn't like him, but I don't think he slagged us off. Either way, 9 years has passed, its water under a bridge.

He's slow though and our team urgently needs pace and I question like Clarke & Donaldson is he in retirement mindset.

Why are you so convinced Evans is 'leggy'? From what I can see, only one Portsmouth fan (that's ONE) has made that comment on their forum. One fan on a message board and suddenly it's fact? Or have you got your information from a more reliable source?

 

Is he slow? Obviously I'm not sure as I haven't seen much of him and I don't expect him to be lightning but unless my mind is playing tricks on me he had a decent turn of pace in his first spell here.

 

Well Gareth and Magic have one thing in common. Coming here at this moment in time is certainly a challenge.

I can’t believe these negative comments. He’s a solid upper league one player. Proven! What does everyone expect? Great signing at this level and I expect fans at other league 2 clubs will be envious.

I'm not convinced. Never said I was. Said I was concerned. I've seen other comments suggesting hes past his best etc.

Tbh my concern is more about signing a player of that age who's dropping down a league. It tends to be a very mixed bag in terms of success for us.

I wish him well and will judge him based on what I see
