Ta Fawdy, thank you for a balanced and honest overview - and good luck to your boys too for the rest of the season. I also just want to comment that most of the posts on this site and Sunderland forum confirm you are a good set of lads (and lasses, dont want to get in trouble! ;)) and while you are a (slightly) bigger club than ourselves I do see a lot of similarities in our support - passionate, realistic, friendly and honest - which makes the actions of a few 'knobhead' fans that have been reported (ours on this occasion) even more frustrating and annoying.

On top of the piss poor refereeing we had a couple of talented players that weren't at their best on the day which also contributed to us getting feck all out of a game where we should have had a point, but it is bound to even itself out some day won't it......won't it..?

Have you read the comments about us on their forum? Hardly gives us a glowing report judging by the responses. We’re not a bad bunch for the vast majority of games but we do attract a retarded element of braindead vermin, pretty much always on a bank holiday and always where we have a large away following. And always fueled with beer.

I agree with that, especially the bank holidays, but also I think at grounds where it isn't too difficult to travel to. Games further away have much less of it. There were some really embarrassing examples yesterday, including people who had small children with them. On our way out of the stadium there was one bloke, clearly the worse for wear with drink, yelling obscenities at the police and Sunderland fans, whilst his little boy, who must have been about 8 or 9 looked on. What an example.

Every single footballer, professional, amateur, five aside would have done the same. It’s not classed as cheating, albeit if you read the rules you would think this . I think it’s actually seen as fairly acceptable behaviour. The problem is with the officials

Of course he dragged the ball back!!!!! He was trying to stop it going in!!!! Diving is cheating yes, hence why Mo Salah was investigated today for his perceived dive against Newcastle, as its against the rules. Im still waiting for which rule you think JM made and when the EFL are going to investigate it?

Oh and committing a foul isn't cheating... Do you even watch football or understand it at all?

I don't even know where to start with this.. You are talking about referees reading players body language and then making decisions upon that rather than deciding on the decision based on the football. If the ref or linesman didn't think the ball went in then they cant give the goal, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with JM deceiving the ref because he looked suspicious hahahahahha

I’ll concede that JM didn’t cheat per se if you concede that what he did was unsporting behaviour against a former club where he was part of the legends squad of 2013.

Ffs I hope people are not being serious saying JMac cheated yesterday. No one on the planet would've owned up that it went in, myself included. It's not his fault that the officials are incapable of doing their jobs.

You are making a huge assumption there that JM thought it was a goal. Was he also unsporting by saving a penalty in the game at VP?
Its down to the officials to manage the laws of the game not the players with the exception of the Paulo DiCanio incident.

Possibly not hold his hand up saying “please sir it was a goal” but how about just not trying to deceive the officials?

It had already gone in!! you cant stop something which has already happened. In this case you cant save a goal if the ball is already over the line. You can merely be dishonest and try make it seem like it hadnt crossed the line. I fully expect him to stay quiet about it and if it was our goalie i would want the same. But be it JM or ROD its still cheating.

We are basically talking about semantics here so maybe a definition will help you.

    cheat

    verb

    gerund or present participle: cheating
    1. 1.
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage.
      "she always cheats at cards"

Absolutely. He ran off and threw the ball as if nothing happened, waiting for the whistle that never came...

No he cheated. He knew had gone over the line and quite brazenly conned the officials by getting up and throwing the ball. What's the difference between a forward 'throwing' his leg against the keeper and getting a pen?

That's hypothetical. What we are talking about is REAL. It happened yesterday if you weren't aware.
