Free Agent Signings Monday ?

He has a back injury, it looks like he's in a box at the ground watching the game so he's not out in the cold. I really can't see the problem. I understand the scepticism and the questioning by certain fans but just think it's just an excuse for fans to have a pop at him.

 

I dont think it stacks up either but for a different reason;
The players edin was able to sign struggle to make a full season, injuries or loss of form.
Out of scannell/doyle/akpan/o'donnell/wright and mellor how many do you think made more than say 30 appearances per season in the last couple of years?

Mellor is the only one, plus o'connor made approx 30 but was playing in scotland before he fell out with the fans.
Research not done or just picking up players that would sign up for edin's project.
No wonder city needed a large squad to make up for the sicknotes.
Cannot be a surprise there is an injury crisis this season then.

 

I'm talking more about the players that have been mentioned such as Bent etc...players with Prem and Champ pedigrees and pay packets to match. Simple fact is, there's not a lot out there - and that's due to the fact that other clubs around us had a much more efficient and fruitful transfer window in the summer than we did.

 

I agree. I don't understand some of the hate towards scannell, he's been arguably the most hard-working player on the pitch when he's played.

He has. And he is a good player at this level when fit. If it wasn’t for his injury record he would be playing higher now

I'm losing track with all the injuries tbh. Reeves I thought had a groin problem? Or is that Jones? Jones has a hamstring problem, or is that a new injury on top of the long term back injury he's got? Or is it Scannell with the back injury? Or is that Reeves? And what about Devine? Or am I mixing Devine up with Clare? What is wrong with Clare? And didn't we sign a keeper and he's never played cos of his injury? What's up with him?

The point I'm making, is that no-one knows what's going on, simply because these players just seem to "disappear" and there's very little info from the club.

 

Scannell’s injury is RSI related given he just has the one move when trying beat a defender...

 

TBH, I thought Dave would have been down and scoped the place for sightings of these trialists by now.

Hopkin confirmed today, that no new signings this week. However, he is due to have contract talks next week with agents of players who have been training with us

 

Guessing they don't want to be cup tied for when their next big move materialises

 

So, with Greg now back in charge of recruitment, I'm sure we all have a warm and fuzzy feeling about what's planned for January.....

Who knows whether we'll have any money. We're almost certainly going to need some cheap deals and some loans. Targeting championship players who aren't getting games might be sensible.

We obviously need at least one centre back. An old favourite - Andrew Davies joined Hartlepool in the summer. Home town club so he's probably happy winding down, close to home. But if he doesn't have injury problems, at 33 surely he's still better than that level. Could we take him back short term? I'd have him back in a heart beat.

Adam Le Fondre isn't playing at Bolton. He'd be a big help up front.

Sean Raggett and Jamie Proctor not really involved at Rotherham. Would surely strengthen our centre back and striking options.

Paul Coutts, Richard Stearman, Connor Washington, John Lundstram. All on the fringes at Sheff United, who're likely to invest in Jan. All are top drawer at this level.

Sam winnall and Gary Hooper not playing at Wednesday

Dominic Samuel not playing at Blackburn - I think I remember us being interested last summer?

Gavin Massey and Dan Burn not playing much for Wigan.

Lloyd Isgrove and Tom Bradshaw not featuring much for Barnsley.

 

Didn’t Tom Bradshaw sign for Millwall and do his knee ligaments?
