With regards to the stadium ownership issue until we have any realistic alternative solution other than VP then we have no leverage what so ever to negotiate with.

As much as it pains me to say it, if it meant we made progress in the running of this club then I’d happily stand on the terraces at Odsal if we were allowed to. Gibb would get minimum possible for the ground, the area is such a shit hole the options would be limited

It's a weird situation isn't it. The current building will never be another thing, other than a stadium for Bradford City. Gibb will only ever have 1 tenant, and if we go, all he can do is sell it for real estate I'd guess for far less than he would make selling to City.

But as it stands and likely for the foreseeable future, we don't have a prayer of buying the ground. But even if we did, the ground needs a lot of money spent on it to fix its issues or even modernising some parts of it.

The lease is an expensive headache, any future leases will legally be another expensive headache, and any potential purchase is an expensive headache. Longer we are down here, the more worrying it gets.

In some ways this is like a WW1 stalemate. We have no viable alternative, but Flamingo Land Pension Fund has no alternative tenants.
The value of the land itself given location, access and the stadium sitting on it, is not attractive for alternative use.

Your statement compared to the current setup:

"They are killing the football club, full stop . People are just stopping going. I’m not kidding"

Something has to change @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 I would rather see 5000 be somewhat entertained at Odsal stadium, with on-field (and hopefully off-field) progression season upon season, as opposed to the mess we are currently in. We are only heading one way, in fact I cannot honestly see where the next league point will come from. People saying we are too good to go down? We definitely aren't. This group of players & their mindset is extremely poor, which isn't the first time it has been said!

Change yes, but that shit hole isn’t the answer. Far too far from Town, garbage transport links, abysmal supporter accommodation and facilities, impossible to segregate supporters, limited entry and exit points. A patch of grass in a big hole in the ground and we will see postponements during the winter like no other. . I/ We had my share of it post 85….. It was appalling then , what has changed ? Absolutely nothing, other than a few licks of paint and some concrete steps.

Let’s please not suggest these can be improved because we then find ourselves calling for the Councils multi million “ improvement scheme “ to be resurrected, which has been constantly slagged off on this forum.

It’s unworkable, and does the opposite of improving our chances in the future. So debate away friends but it’s the opposite of a solution… it’s desperation stuff , we have a problem, so let’s create another one twice , three times as bad.

Odsal is not the answer, if it was we would have upped sticks in 1985. It’s a dump, poorly located, with third world facilities no matter what the rugby fans tell you.

    The location is fine.

the facilities are a dump though, granted.

It’s the pitch that would worry me. Don’t think it could sustain regular football and rugby, unless they have better groundstaff and resources to repair it between games.

not sure how other dual purpose grounds manage it but I hate watching football on a pitch with rugby markings.

City have excellent ground staff and just look at the pitch deteriorate since mid Dec. Nowhere near as exposed as Odsal and Odsal doesn’t have the drainage VP has . Oh I remember those Odsal games played on a swamp.

Totally agree, it is a shit hole, with a quagmire pitch. It was just a suggestion. But not sure why it being far away from town matters a jot? A lot of grounds are now located well out of city centres, it doesn't have any affect on them?

What about Halifax then? or dare I say it, Hudders?? After all, whatever groundshare rent they demand, surely wouldn't be as much as we pay Gibb for VP? Certainly worth enquiring about. I know there'll be a lot of fans with the attitude of "over my dead body" (and up to recently, I would have been one of them!) but needs must

We had gone up a division via promotion so difficult to set comparisons. I think the highest was Leeds and that turned into an unsegregated riot. I was there Border.
The night games were poorly attended from memory. It was appallingly difficult to get to post 1800hrs on a night time . Work, home, and get to Odsal from the North side of Bradford, where I believe a lot of our fan base is located.

Thanks Rod, I’m unclear where the games post 85 were played in the chart. We played at Elland Rd , Huddersfield and Odsal, from the memory banks.

Hudders was the best imho, but that’s personal choice. The night games at Odsal were an experience to behold . If I have time later I will see if I can find anything of note.

Really…Colchester in our division a case in point. Nice ground yet look at their attendances. It’s a car orientated venue.

How many conceded in three games, it’s got to be over 10?

EFL would not allow Odsal these days to be a fit stadium for league football. It has deteriorated massively over the last few years and needs selling off for tipping. The only option then would be a smaller stadium for City and Bulls on the Richard Dunne sight but again won’t happen due to the cost and that Bradford Council and Bradford Bulls are totally skint.
