    Thats a very fair point Fordy and is the real crux of the problem. For all Borders positivity tonight, 'we need to win 3 or 4 on bounce ' is not really backed up by logic after 2 wins in 17. We just have too many shortcomings

    I bet Angol's red card doesn't get rescinded though if the game is void and they have to play again. If they did use 6 subs, the tie should be awarded to us, especially as it was 0-0 still when they brought on the 6th sub.

    How on earth did the officials not realise though?

    Kick em out I say, broke the rules then throw them out of the competition. A bit ironic that the Exeter manager was quoted as saying in the Football league paper that he didn’t agree with 5 subs. Didn’t realise he actually wanted 6.

    Exeter fans seem resigned to being thrown out of the competition (as per their forum).

    I think the one thing Bradford City should be making clear, in their submission to the FA, is that we should not be asked to travel back down to Exeter for yet another fixture.

    And yes, you are right, the FA have a track record of harsher punishments on non-league teams, who have been thrown out for lesser offences than this.

    The tie was nil nil at the time of the extra sub.

    It's hard to claim there was no bearing on the game.

    The EFL would probably deduct points from Bolton out of habit.

    I propose a compromise solution.

    Exeter get to go through to the 2nd round, but we get all of last night's prize money and half of any future prize/TV money that Exeter win in this season's competition.

    I've forwarded a copy of this thread to the FA's Professional Game Board who will rule on any infringement of the FA Cup Rules.

    I'd be confident in saying that if the PGB is unsure of the FA's own rules, they'll contact the experts on BT for their advice . :D

    As a neutral in all this I can honestly say that the FA has made an absolutely appalling decision. Exeter should have been kicked out of the competition and most Cambridge fans on the forum I'm on agree with that view. You have every right to feel aggrieved...hopefully Adams can use it as motivation for the replay of the replay.
    As an Exeter City fan are you really having a go at a Cambridge Utd fan on a Bantum forum....jeez, learn some etiquette and manners.
