Our work isn't done by quite a long way according to Hughes. I'll take his word over yours.

In previous seasons with different managers, that sounds like exactly the sort of excuse we'd get given as to why we couldn't do any more business. Not now though, there's a level of professionalism and planning gone into this window that we aren't used to, and from the start, it's been said there will be outgoings. Just as there is a plan behind who is coming in, there will be one around who is going out. It's going to happen Park, whether you believe it or not.

Let's see how he goes but I'm far from convinced he'd have been a good option for us.

I would have thought we'd want a playmaker, because Smallwood looks to be the defensive midfielder we've needed for years.

One or the criticisms Hull fans seemed to level at Smallwood most was that he took 5 touches every time he got the ball and really slowed down play; but that he also broke up opposition attacks all the time, and his stats for tackles and interceptions were superb

I imagine he can play, but I don't think he's a replacement for Watt?

And everything we’ve been missing since Gary Jones and Nathan Doyle.

Can already sense a very firm fans favourite in the making.

Looks like he's gone around for the best offer. Better to have a fee than have them leave on a free.

not much of a loss in all.

It's testament to the manager and the club that the reaction to this isn't as wild as it might have been. In years gone by this would have happened and added to the many holes in the squad and heaped more pressure on the club to recruit well as the season approaches. The impact of Watt's decision is negated by the fact we have been proactive with our recruitment rather than reactive.

As others have said, it's a short career so I don't blame him for opting for what is probably a bit more money. Will be interested to see how he goes, no doubting the ability in some aspects of his game. But the fact he's had a team built around him for two seasons and both seasons have resulted in a bottom half finish suggests there's still a lot of improvement to be found.

Yeah that doesnt make sense. Going to a manager with no experience to a manager whos coached internationals. Sometimes it's best not to say anything otherwise you just make yourself look daft

I think we're all misreading that comment and I don't think it's a dig at MH. Yeah. It's a money move no doubt in that but besides the fact most things players say when they join a new club is the same clichéd BS, isn't he just saying he wanted a change of scenery but also to play under a coach that will improve him. So he wasn't just gonna go for the sake of a change of scenery he was only gonna go somewhere that had such a coach (and afforded him that change of scenery he reckons he craved). Not a slight on MH I don't think.

On a positive note, we should cut out the free kicks given away five yards outside the box on the opponents right wing.

Only just read the news so not sure what's been said, but I'm sure my views will be aligned with many others.

Disappointed with this on a number of levels. Watt is a prospect and one I would have liked to have seen develop further at the Bantams. However, I would have understood his decision to leave if it had been for a club in a higher league. This would have made sense and shown ambition.

To read he has opted to sign for a League 2 rival in Salford however actually left a sour taste in my mouth! This lacks ambition from a football perspective. Yes, he's gone to a club who will rightly have promotion as their objective like ourselves, but that's a sideways move. Then I read his justification and it was, well it was lame! If he wanted a manager that he could develop under then surely Hughes is that man! The guy's managed international and world class players. We probably have the best manager in both Leagues 1 and 2!

The platform Bradford City provides him can also not be matched by any team in League 2 and his midfield partner in Smallwood is probably the best central midfielder in the division. What a partnership it represented for him. Again, where's his ambition?

Hey ho. I'll take my claret and amber tinted glasses off now. Enjoy the extra few pounds Watt. I'm sure you'll get a cracking reception on your return to VP!

I would have preferred to keep Watt but we need to move on. His reasons dont sound convincing. Move away from an established premier league manager to an under23 coach?
I do think he took a lot of stick under Adams management as his style wasn’t conducive of an Adams team. He suffered for it and perhaps that’s part of the reason but the football under Hughes was far more attractive and progressive. I think Watt suffered because of the results and style of Adams but to be a pro baller you need serious strength of character. Shame because if city take off next season he won’t witness the good times at this club. And when it’s rocking here, it is something to behold.

I think that he's hoping Gillead can grow into that role. He's decent in possession, had a great engine and has an eye for a pass so playing deeper there may be less pressure on him and if he can get a bit of confidence he may do pretty well there.

I'm far from convinced but after seeing the last few games that's my thoughts on what MH may be thinking.

I think Angol will be managed closely. He'll rarely play 90 mins and when we get into a period of Saturday/Tuesday for several weeks, I think he'll miss the odd one. We'll aim to keep him fit for 2/3 of games in a manner that we control rather than lose him for a 3 month period due to his hamstrings going.

I’d do what Cambridge did with Wes Hoolahan and let him miss Tursday games and monitor his minutes. I’d rather him not be available for 25% of games than getting injured and missing 75%.

It's a good job none of us had affinity with the current team, because Hughes is doing a fine job of dismantling the crap successive managers since Stuart left (second spell) have signed.

Good argument but this season has been so disappointing that any talent players have can be missed. I've seen a lot of the games on ifollow and I've noticed recently some good long balls from him and I have to admit that even during the dross games he worked hard and was always looking up and looking to make a good ball. We've all been that passed off it's probably clouded our judgement and caused us to miss some of the good stuff.
