I thought it might. I saw it the day after he signed and I thought “ what we have been missing for years”

And everything we’ve been missing since Gary Jones and Nathan Doyle.

Can already sense a very firm fans favourite in the making.

I think it is safe to say Watt is gone now and it’s just a case of compo being negotiated. it’s weird how there is such a lack of rumours on him.

Kind of agree, but having someone like that in the side gives greater freedom for the existing creative players within the side to bomb on and do their thing knowing their is someone behind them to back them up if they lose the ball.

No, nobody really knows for sure. I must admit I did think he will re-sign and still have hope he will but that hope is fading.

it would be nice to see watt resign. With a midfield partner who can cover the defensive aspects, watt would excel in this team. But its looking unlikely so best of luck to him wherever he ends up

Hope Watt leaves and we get a few quid for him.
He gives away possession far too easily.
Late on in a game, the opposition turning the screw, our players knackered and hanging on, work hard to gain possession And he gets the ball and gives them it straight back to them !

MH will have a plan, I wouldn’t worry. I’m happy if he stays , not too bothered if he thinks he can better himself by moving on. It’s his career and good luck to him either way, but his massive issue is a lack of pace, especially necessary in the CC. It’s entirely up to him.
We never know, his replacement may be already be through the door?

There's a site called playmakerstats that has a lot of data available that isn't hidden behind a paywall.

The last three games of the season, Elliot Watt played more passes than anyone else for either team in every single game.

His pass completion was in the 70%'s every game, which is not always particularly high, it's probably mid-range or average, however you want to define it. In the Sutton game (4-1 win) it was one of the highest, however.

I reckon that's probably representative of Watt. He's the most active playmaker on the pitch virtually every game, and completes between 7 to 8 of every 10 passes. That's not low, like I say, it's about average - but when he's playing more passes than every other player on the pitch, you have to consider that.

Focussing on Watt misplacing passes does seem pretty silly, all things considered.

Focussing on why he has the ball so much, why he's playing more passes than everyone else, and what that might suggest is more important: he's always wanting the ball, he presses intelligently (he's not running around like a headless chicken), and he's extremely confident - he's a 'real' playmaking midfielder who is almost always more active than his opposite number.

I'd like to keep Watt, in doing so I believe the upside potential is higher than him leaving this year.

If he does go though, it's not disastrous because, as we've seen with Paudie and Vernam, we are capable of signing players who, on paper at least, look like they are not only as good but actually could be upgrades.

Do you think Platt will be better than Paudie? I'm struggling to make that leap of faith, I just don't know.

What's interesting is Crichlow was one of the most active and most accurate passers in the Swindon side last year.

Maybe that gives us an insight into why we've brought him in; not as a blood and thunder defender, but as a very accomplished ball playing defender.

One of the reasons I'm not sure about Crichlow as a defender is, even at Swindon this past season, his defensive work was well below average.

However, you can clearly see he's an above average ball playing defender.

I hope if he plays, we're playing a back three, because if it's him and Platt/Songo'o, I'm not convinced at all. The wider the better. Out left, or I'd rather we played Platt & Songo'o.

Can't take a Stats page seriously if they don't know the difference between 'duals' and 'duels'
