Chelsea's hand is forced. Tottenham Kane and Winks. Liverpool TAA Arsenal Willock Maitland Niles? Barely raining heavy with youth products. No premier league team will win through youth academies no more.

Youth players will need to leave man city if they want a career at the highest level, you only have to look at sancho to see that. If he had stayed at city he'd still be playing u21s or getting the odd run out in the 1st team when they're 5-0 up with a few minutes remaining. Instead he's a starter for england and Dortmund playing against the likes of Barcelona in the champions league. Foden is an amazing talent but from an English perspective, I was disappointed he signed a new deal at city, pep wont give him the exposure to regular first team football which he needs.

I think you are being a bit harsh on Man City here. They haven't been massive spenders above everyone eske. They have bought very well. If you want to talk about spending money move yourself a few miles across the city. Yes they are playing youngsters but thats partly because their buys have being terrible.

David silva is arguably looking at his age on his way out. I suspect Foden would not have signed without assurances from Pep about his future role

You are probably right. Yes you can point to Sancho but one swallow doesn't make a summer. Man City wanted to keep him and saw a role for him but Sancho wanted to move away. I don't think you can say the same would not have happened if he had stayed as he's always been a very good player and highly regarded

You'd hope so but if city don't win the title/champions league this season I'd be amazed if they didn't spend big money on replacing silva.

Not a chance. They will buy someone else.

Rosen hardly plays for City considering his talent. He should of left them.

It's true City haven't gone out and spent like Utd but City spend big on full backs, DM etc when they already have quality in that area. UTD don't have quality in any area barring the keeper.

So yes this is on City because how they go about their business highlights they don't have interest in youth which is a shame considering they can't even fill their ground week in week, week out. The fans of Man City don't deserve the team or owners they have got.

Man U get away with spending big because they bought poorly since Fergie but Man City buy well and they are the villains? Just because they have good players they aren't allowed to buy better ones? I wouldn't say Danilo Zinchenko and Mendy is bursting with quality and don't think any of the other teams in the top 6 or in top teams in Europe are envious they don't have them. City's defence looks like their weak link to me?

Going to the horse racing is entertainment. Going to a casino is entertainment. Going to the football is entertainment. Going to the cinema is entertainment. Seems to me there are similarities.

My point is City already have the quality they don't then have to buy more quality in the same position when they can promote youth.

City are desperate to win the CL forgot all this we would rather the PL bollocks. They say that because they know they're failing in the CL and will never be an elite club until that's won.

A lot of these kids are only in because of injuries and took their chance when it came. Alexander-Arnold only got played as Gomez and Clyne were both out for the season played great in a handful of games and was great and Liverpool have never looked back. If he'd have been poor I'm sure Liverpool would've spent big in the next window and TAA would've been back to the reserves for the next year or so. Kane was the same. Spurs spent loads on Strikers Soldado etc.. and all the other crap they bought in that period. Kane got some game time as they were useless and never looked back. There's a bit of luck in these lads getting a chance but they've taken it. I wouldn't say it was them believing in their youth academy more about right place right time.

Yes I agree you need luck and timing to brake through but at City I just don't see it. I see a team that is desperate of CL and will try to fool the British public with this League cup and PL is important line which they're trying to buy the CL really.

Would you put Glasgow Celtic in that category "an elite club" because they won European Cup as it was known in the back in the day.

With the ever-declining attendances for the fixtures of this cup, you'd think City would switch venues to somewhere more suitable. For example, use BPA's or Eccleshills ground if they aren't already using it on the night. Surely this would be a huge saving for City?

Other problem for these youths at Man City and other top youths that wont make it at their club, a lot of them are already on stupid money for their age and experience. When 90% of the youth do get released and L1/2 teams want to talk to them, they demand stupid money then turn their nose up at realistic deals for their ability.

Few year back Peterborough had a Spurs keeper on loan. Released the end of the season and wanted P'boro to match his Spurs deal of 5k a week, 5 grand for a keeper who never played for Spurs at 20/21. Posh chairmen on Twitter saying it's amazing how many prem released lads want daft money and cant grasp the standard of grounds and facilities for clubs at their current talent level.

Seems these day you end up with 2 types, some want the challenge and take the pay cuts to build a career. Or Devante Cole types that seem to last 6-12 months at every club before stropping and demanding moves thinking they are above their station.

Problem is, if Man City stop spending, then they might get overtaken by another club who spends more on better players. It's this constant pursuit of getting the best players that is pushing upandcoming youngsters down the pecking order. Simple fact is, the Premiership is the "best league in the world" in the eyes of the tv companies, because of the array of talent on show.
Only way to stop this, imo, is to cap transfer spend or to cap the amount of non homegrown players in the squad/team. But as mentioned above, will viewers want to tune in to a team of international stars, or a few international stars playing with some lads who grew up in Salford?
