Quite right Idle. Colin Murray has fallen into the usual trap of assuming an automatic return whilst the stats are against that, just looking at the League tables as they stand today and those who have been relegated over say the last 2/3 seasons.
Last season - M.K. Dons may make it back after 2 successive relegations and big money spent on retaining a high budget by a wealthy owner.
Bury - a chance in the play-offs but on the brink of Admin, gambling on getting up.
Oldham - nowhere, big problems financially so it is rumoured.
Northampton - mid table going nowhere.
Previous season - Port Vale - bottom half L2.
Crewe - mid table L2.
Swindon - Same as Crewe.
Colchester - fringe of play off, no chance and a serious lesson as to investing big in development can seriously damage your health (financially and performance results)
In addition Crawley and Stevenage - nowhere.
So it is not easy by any stretch but I for one am hopeful, I sincerely thank all who have renewed ST's and as has been said it's all down to the summer.
I can say the football world of L1 at least is shocked at our position. Since Christmas every Boardroom we have visited has expressed sympathy, we are the talk of the industry but we also have many players under contract who perhaps should not be here and there is no interest in them either. As the Coventry Chairman said yesterday, the only answer is paying off those who are not required but that will cost.
As I said on another thread two months ago, the mess left by ER will take five years to remedy in my view but that does not mean L2 for five years so lets see this season off, peacefully with no pitch invasions please, ( I am almost on first name terms with the F.A. Discipline people) and we move on, up for the fight, back on the M5 to Forest Green, Exeter, Cheltenham and Swindon and back home with three points!
Thanks again for your brilliant support.
Roger Owen.

Too big for league 2?, try telling that to Notts Co fans, who would bite your arm off to be playing league 2 next season -
As I say it will be the normal last game of the season situation, I would hope Bradford City fans who attend the Wimbledon game possibly to offer their respects to the 56, think about the crap us fans have had to endure for the last 18 months and show their appreciation by walking out.
Not that I think that would have the slightest effect on most of this gutless squad. -
In respect of the clubs you mention above, then some seem to have significant problems. Bury as far as I am aware have a date with HMRC. Oldham have also got significant financial issues. Port Vale are apparently going to cease operating at the end of the season unless a buyer can be found. Notts County again have issues with HMRC. Crewe have had a number of issues with their former coaching staff. So a lot of those clubs are in disarray.
City have a support of 13,000+. Very impressive given the fall over the last 18 months. No one else will have that in League 2.
Now for a radical suggestion! Surely the EFL Chairmen could come to some agreement, that standard Footballers contracts include a relegation clause. This could lead to a Players Contract being terminated, or that the rate is reduced ‘pro rata’ to reflect the division that the team finds itself in. It seems as though players can have relegation clauses, and also expect more if their club is promoted. Surely the converse should be a standard EFL Contract. At the moment all the power seems to be in the players hands, there needs to be some reasonable counterbalancing!
Anyway to balance your bleak assessment, here is a factual record for some clubs who were relegated!
- 2007 Brentford relegated from League One - 2008 Brentford promoted from League Two and now in the Championship.
- 2008 Gillingham relegated from League One - 2009 Gillingham promoted from League two.
- 2008 Bournemouth relegated from League One - 2010 Bournemouth promoted and now in the Premiership.
- 2010 Wycombe relegated from League One - 2011 Wycombe promoted from League Two.
- 2011 Swindon relegated from League One - 2012 Swindon promoted from League Two.
- 2012 Rochdale relegated from League One- 2014 Rochdale promoted from League Two.
- 2013 City promoted from League Two - Also Gillingham who had been relegated in 2010 return to League One.
- 2013 Scunthorpe relegated from League One - 2014 Scunthorpe promoted from League Two.
- 2014 Shrewsbury relegated from League One - 2015 Shrewsbury promoted from League Two.
- 2016 Doncaster relegated from League One - 2017 Doncaster promoted from League Two.
- 2016 Blackpool relegated from League One - 2017 Blackpool promoted from League Two.
- 2017 Coventry relegated from League One - 2018 Coventry promoted from League Two.

if we go into next season spouting about how we’re a massive club, too big for league two or the likes of forest green or salford (if they get promoted), that we’re going to walk the league and if we don’t give clubs the respect they deserve then we’re already doing every opponents pre-match team talk for them.

Yeah Colin Murray attempted to "spin a positive out of it" We should easily make it back to League 1 it shouldn't be a question and you (we) should get what we deserve ! It's a'simple enough task (or should be) against basically "quasi non league" opposition so for me the demand is a copy of Lincoln City's 18/19 campaign! We are way too big for League 2 and coming at it from a bigger stand point. Rather than Imps who had to "step up" from their stand point !. Anything less for me will be unacceptable. Even a Wembley play-off final wouldn't be acceptable ? So I wouldn't join any "happy clapper" day out at Wembley in a "lottery"attempt to scramble out ! That's the extent of Bowyers task next season scrambling to get out won't be anywhere near acceptable.
I had a thought the fans have been the only ones who "deserve" any credit. So what Rhodes & Rupp can do if they're bringing "stripes back" ? As a goodwill gesture every one of us should be able to go down to the Shop and pick up a new City shirt for nowt !
So at least we all look like it's "Our City" when we turn up to be put threw this 12 months of football drudgery next season !Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Craven Cottager, Fordy117 and Super bantams like this. -

Unless we know these numbers, I wouldn’t be too happy to be quoting season ticket sales of 13k for 2019/20. To anyone who doesn't think we're the biggest club in L2 next season, to put it quite simply you're talking out of your back side. That doesn't mean that we have a divine right to be successful though, we found that out in our last spell.
Comparing us to MK and Salford is hilarious though.WibseyBantam, Bradford End and Onside like this.
