The 70’s and 80’s , excuse the pun, were a different ball game. The Prem now uses, by a vast majority using SKY cash, the cream of world wide “ imported” players.
The level of players who would have plied their trade in the First Division in those days have nowhere to go today except to drop to the CC. In addition look how many overseas players also ply their trade in the CC nowadays whilst clubs try and “ buy” the ultimate dream of the Prem. It’s a different beast and no comparison.

That’s excellent considering what is likely to be coming round the corner. Nice added income to the coffer’s!

We got the best we could hope for, stay in the game and go long in the last 5 minutes, putting them under pressure.
Oliver had an impact and we nearly scraped a draw.

If that's their second string, they will be right up there in the Champ. Strength in depth.
Their first choice Left Back must be amazing because the one that played last night was superb.

One thing that was problematical last night was the delays getting into Valley Parade. We arrived about 7.30 and the queues were immense.

The stewards did their best to encourage people to get into several lines, rather than the nearest.

At that time at least half the turnstiles were shut, they eventually opened more, they must have known how many tickets they had sold, and I am surprised more turnstiles were not open from the outset.

Not sure if it is the Bar Codes which caused the delay.

When you got into the stadium, then with it apparently being ‘unallocated’ seating, that lead to more delays while supporters tried to work out which seats to go to.

Think the bar codes we’re working fine just more of a case of a lot of people turning up at the same time

I would think that with the Hull game on SKY and a reasonable crowd last night we will have made a good £100,000 plus from this season’s league cup.

You can see from the picture that two out of three, pairs of turnstiles had the shutters down and were not open. They eventually opened up W5&6.

The club had sold a lot of tickets well before the kick off, and they must have been able to anticipate the numbers turning up.

They obviously had the staff spare, as they eventually did open them up!

The logical thing would have had them open from say 7.15, rather than just before 7.40!

Very decent, but a tad under estimated i feel. Did it say £1550 from Blackburn ? Based on MR holding 4,500 I reckon there was at least 2,000 of them in there.

Yeah not doubting that rod . My response was to your suggestion that there was a issue with the barcodes which I don’t believe there was . As you say lack of turnstiles been open didn’t help.

One strange thing (in the kop) was that they had a turnstile for physical printed tickets and another for online/ QR tickets, which caused a bit of an issue. People in the wrong queue, no clear signage etc.

We got into the upper tier and looking down the bottom tier was pretty much full apart from the Bantams Bar seats, at least 500 in the upper tier as well.

A very good crowd all in all.

Blackburn are a very good team, and there is no shame in that loss at all. Remember being battered by Lincoln & Preston at home in the early rounds ? Hughes is making progress and in the period around us scoring it looked like we had really clicked, plus we really went for it in the last ten minutes.

Tough game to judge him really when we had so little possession.

He ran around a lot, so very mobile, but didn't see much of the ball

Shame his shot hit the post at 1-0.

Arrived at 7.15 no issues getting in. The stadium was practically empty.
It amazes me how many people rock up 10 to 15 mins before kick off and expect to just walk in without a queue.
Or should the club pay for every turnstile to be open, with the staff sat there doing nothing right until nearly kick off.
It always feels to me that people are too ready to blame the club, rather than accept a little responsibility.
There are far worse things going on in life currently.

We got there about 7.30. The queues were what they were in the photograph. That is a fact.

Secondly they opened extra turnstiles after that photograph was taken, so had the staff spare to man it, as they were in the ground they would already be paid.

It is more about allocating your staff in a smart and timely manner, to where they are needed.

The club will have known how many tickets it had sold before say 7.00p.m. City could have allocated those staff which eventually opened additional turnstiles at that juncture.

I am not aware that I or anyone else suggested they open ‘every’ turnstile.

If they didn’t have the staff on site, with the ability to operate the late additional turnstiles, they wouldn’t have been opened at the last minute.

A fair point, but with evening kick offs people often have little time to spare after travelling home from work, eating their evening meal and travelling to the game. For a fair few getting to the ground 30 minutes before kick off would be a tall order.

At 2 - 0 it's a different game but they looked a good side and moved the ball well.
