how could anyone be 'excited' by modelling our entire future on clubs like Exeter and Crewe? we'll soon be in the same league as them, and we'll have regressed by about 6 years.

    whats exciting about that?

Let's get things straight the lads on the pitch and micheal Collins will be supported by the fans Edin and Co on the other hand well let's say that is a different question. If it goes well as I have said before I will gladly eat humble pie but if it goes tits up watch the fans turn on Edin on a scale he would probably not thought possible.

    Resurrecting this trail.

We need some humble pie for the Edin Out brigade....no ambition...,won't spend money...can't attract players because everyone hates him?

    You know who you are.

Own up and at give the guy some credit where it is due.

While you were all screaming and moaning, weeping, wailing snd gnashing your teeth it appears he was quietly getting on with the job of recruiting players and putting in place the infrastructure to support growth.

This is what you wanted. He has delivered.

    Give it up for him.

Or are you desperately looking for something..,,anything to complain about?

    Norman

I see the comments Norman posted just before this one by City Loyal - all I am going to say is this one is in my opinion far more balanced and a truer reflection on where most City fans are currently feeling about the club. I am sure we are all feeling a bit happier about the signings this week and congrats to all the management team for making this happen - but you cannot brush under the carpet what has happened since the new year and we have a very young and inexperienced coach in place who now has to make all of this work, having the players is one thing but getting them to perform as a team is a whole different challenge. So well done Edin and the guys for this weeks developments but a bit soon to be blowing your own trumpet Norman and belittling other posters - there is still a long way to go

I'm as big a McCall fan as you're likely to find, and I think he did an excellent job for us and shouldn't have been sacked, but I think its time we just left it alone now. he isn't here, he isn't coming back, the players he had in his team largely aren't here anymore. some people thought he did well, others don't. some folk apparently don't have any respect for him and don't much like him, others, quite rightly hold him in very high esteem but it's all in the past.

if and when he gets another job lets discuss his fortunes there in the where are they now section, debating him and his tenure here now is destined to go absolutely nowhere.

anyway - back on topic - I think we've made some terrific signings this summer, all credit to the club for that, it remains to be seen whether the coach is up to the task, and if the new squad we've assembled will be struck down with the same affliction than caused our last lot to toss it off for half a season.
I am less worried than I was before after the quality of our additions, but I am still somewhat cautious as to how we might fair.

Absolutely right. McCall would have been an idiot to walk away from the club again as he did when Lawn was around. And if the owners had really wanted him out of the club, they should have had the balls to sack him last summer after the play-off final, to have paid his outstanding contract and have dealt with the inevitable fall-out. They bottled it imo and it cost the club dearly in the non-season which followed. Despite some good results in the first half of the season, the performances weren't good enough and we had a squad which wasn't strong enough and without enough quality to see us through an entire season. Our league position in the first half of the season flattered us and we were found out. The responsibility for that rests with the three members of the transfer committee who between them and for whatever reason failed to assemble a squad of sufficient size and quality.

On a more positive point, the recruitment has been several notches higher in this transfer window imo and maybe that's down to lessons having been learned in some quarters. As yet, I still believe we are a couple of signings away from having a good enough squad of the right size and with sufficient quality to push for promotion. I trust we don't repeat last season's mistakes and that it will be sorted, not today but hopefully early in the loan window.

Could I just take the opposing view and not at all just for the sake of being contrarian.

As perhaps can be inferred from the recent happenings the problem was with the club. It is the club that has had to learn. So the club has altered it's focus, it is now for the first time in it's history, perhaps, a professionally run club. The scope of change is enormous, some think that it spreads the ongoing advancement a little too thin which is fair and open to discussion. Wide reaching it is though for certain and some seen to struggle with this and the bursting of the soporific bubble the clubs floated along in was bound to be disconcerting even for those of us that consider that change was necessary and a good thing.

Inherent in your post is the idea that we supporters know better and that now they have 'learnt' they will be far better for it, this is silly unless you are privy to a whole host of information we simply have no access to. Once again it is us that are having to adapt, for various reasons covered elsewhere the investment wasn't able to be made. Either staffing problems or financial systems not quite in place, take your pick or perhaps a mix of both.

As to the truculent 'one summer of good recruitment', do you really feel it will end there? That of course could quite well apply to the old methods but do you really feel it applies now? Do you feel no sense of going forward at a rate opportunity and effort could bring about?

Personally I can see other Summers of good recruitment.

    Onwards and upwards.

We'd be in a much better position if we'd scrap the development squad garbage.

We'd also be in a much better position if Edin kept his mouth shut and didn't act like a tyrant, because there would be a whole lot more love going around (and love in football equates to ticket sales which in turn equate to pennies).

We've signed a couple of good-looking players. We have the potential to field a strong team. But the farcical management recruitment process followed by an over-the-weekend appointment of 'a guy' from within has been embarrassing.

But I think overall, it looks like we'll do okay again. Improvement? Uncertain. Likely? For me, probably not. Relegation? Doesn't look like it.

    Balance, mate.

    Less triumphalist bullspit please!

One is a legend at City, the other is a guy who used to live in Germany who has taken our club down the table in two years.

There's a big difference in terms of reputation and levels of respect earned.

Firstly, I think you’ll find it was Parkinson that brought McMahon to the club. Yes, he extended that deal last summer, but you don’t know it was only McCall’s (note the spelling) decision. And Edin had the chance to offload him in January, but decided against and kept that particular “gob shite”.

As for Doyle, what the frig are you babbling on about here. Why is he “a tossed”? He showed more than enough commitment to the club when travelling overnight so he could play 2 games in less than 24hrs.

Poleon didn’t “down tools”, he simply didn’t have the tools in the first place. He still showed the same effort, but he just wasn’t good enough.

The claim is that the players simply stopped working for McCall. Remind me again, who was present at the meal just after his sacking...? He lost the dressing room? What a load of baloney

for the record, I am absolutely sick to death of talking about Stuart McCall's tenure now but he gets so much disrespect for a club legend from supposed fans of this club that it's hard to not retaliate.

why can't we all just admit he did a good job, and move on. trying to discredit him when we blatantly had a good side and did really well that first season in particular, and that he took last season's team of complete wasters into the play offs and kept them there until he was fired it's just completely disrespectful to him and deluded.

People take football far too seriously, the game should be enjoyed but because of social media everyone wants to know everything and have an opinion on everything.

I find all the bitching amongst our fans highly amusing, it's like something out of pre-school. You've got the ITK's, the anti everything brigade and the thoroughly nice chaps. it's hilarious how everyone acts.

When we lose, I just laugh and take the piss with friends about how shit we are and when we win I'm happy. Some people could do with a similar mindset, enjoy the game and stop being a fanny because an employee has left or Edin killed your cat.

There's a line between having a discussion and then been verbally abused because you have a differing of opinion.

Most people on here keep it good natured, some take it way too far because they don't like what someone thinks.

Works both ways too. Tbf to Ricc he takes and gives a lot on here but some have gone too far when they disagree with his views. (IMO)

More to be delivered before I can join this particular train. A 'good' few days in the transfer market now answers little at this stage. The past is still relevant.

In saying that, I hope he grows stronger within BCFC, piecing the jigsaw together as each of us benefit, the fans, players, contractors, sponsors and of course, Edin.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I wish him well.

The criticism he recieved last season was well and truly justified. We showed no ambition in the transfer market, built a threadbare squad, messed up the January transfer window, slashed the overall wage budget and regressed significantly after coming so close the season before. Couple that with all the behind the scene issues and shocking PR aswell as Rahic's interviews suggesting giving very little was going to change and I don't know why you would expect anything different. If he deserves the plaudits (which he is getting and rightly so) then he can expect criticism when it is due. You can't have it both ways.

What has happened this pre season is what we wanted all along. None of this nonsense such as releasing statements, offering free travel, giving extended interviews and holding fan forums. Just signing a group of players who can excite fans and delivering us with a team that we can get behind. Everything else is almost irrelevant. It's yet to be seen if his decision to appoint Collins as coach is a good one, but so far so good and long may it continue.
