Yes, it's called hiding. Players who don't want the ball, confidence shot, afraid to make mistakes. It's just the psychology of it. Same reason why teams that were dominating and leading 2-0 suddenly go all wibbly wobbly if the opposition pull one back. Nothing has really changed, same players, same fitness. Psychologically there's been a significant change though.

 

Where did I say the players don’t need to move? Of course they do they aren’t cones.

 

I remember Richmond making a similar comment when we up graded Chris Hutchins to manager after Jewell left, I think it only failed because we didn't have a "boot room" .

 

Talking about Richmond i was recently invited to hospitality at a Scarborough match and I was talking to a reporter on the local paper who covered them during big Geoffs time he said they were paying more out to Ex employees than current staff

 

Sorry if I offended you. I was referring to the comment “the ball should be doing most of the moving not players” and I just think the players need to move more. Players need to be doing more running, especially off the ball, than they are.

I think the two of you are at cross purposes.
There's clearly a big difference between doing lots of short runs (ie pass & move) like Stuart's teams do, and 40 yard sprints up the pitch chasing hoofs, as Boreyer had them doing.

 

How do you know he's not up to coaching professionals?

 

You been in a coma this last 18 months? I was down at training the other week as well so saw with my own eyes. I've seen more difficult drills for Sunday junior football teams. He got the boot from BPA so if that doesn't ring the alarm bells I don't what will. Every team he's coached have been a failure and they look clueless.

 

It feels like it yes.

I've been told he's a decent coach, he's been under some very negative managers that, as we've witnessed, play a very safe, dull, unattractive and very limited game. Maybe under a more expansive manager he will be able to show his skills. If not, then he'll be gone. It wouldn't surprise me to see him go as Black is back with McCall. Not sure why we need 2 numbers 2's.

 

The only thing about Drury being a " No.2 " is that he is dog SH*TE.

 

I'd much prefer his wage to go on a scout or a fitness coach.

I'd prefer more money to go on a scout(s) network but our club doesn't see this/any vision.

 

Can Stu turn one of the current squad into a Markie Marshall type attacking player? I'd love to think so, we need someone who is capable of feeding doubt into the opposition defenders.
