Lewis who never put a foot wrong last season has mad a few howlers this season. He has also made some worldly saves he isn’t perfect but he is good enough for us air better

 

During our resent turn around with regards result Lewis has been more like the Lewis of last season, I don't think Alexander will contemplate dropping him and I'd go along with that, not because I wouldn't trust Doyle as from what I've seen of Doyle this season in the EFL Cup he's been more that a capable of coming in for the odd game injuries or drop off of form by Harry.
As with strikers when they are going through a lean spell you either give them a break or hope by still playing him he gets his goal scoring touch back.

This midfield set up suits him down to the ground. I like to see players in their best positions rather than shoehorned into different roles.

 

Like a lot of players in this league if he scored more goals he would be above league 2 level. What has held him back his whole career is decision making in the last 3rd, I think Alexander with his simple approach of if you are around the box and have a chance of a shot then shoot as that takes makes the decision for him.

 

Lewis then compounded his mistake by backing off Ironside,giving him a clear shot at goal.If he had stood up to Ironside,it might have given one of the defenders time to get back and cover the goal.All supposition I know,but that's how I saw it.

 

I'm trying to work out how a backpass is at fault if the keeper has ample time to put his foot through it? Because even if the backpass had been to the feet of Lewis it was his first touch that caused the goal.

 

It was a mistake but we won 3-1 let’s move on missed chances cost us more points earlier in the season. Good chances at that

I think you have misunderstood me.I am not blaming Halliday at all,what i am saying is that having lost the ball.,Lewis should have pressured Ironside,not stand off him,thus giving a defender time to get back and cover.

 

Yes, reading that back I've lost it in translation.

 

Until someone mentioned it I didn't realise Harry didn't try to tackle Ironside instead of trying to get back in his goal.
