Again, it's just a load of sweeping generalisations.

I've nothing to come back with because you're not actually making any reasonable or valid points.

If people want to go to the off license and then take it back to their living rooms and have a skin full it is their business. They have put 0 people in harms way.

I'm in an age category where I am more likely to die getting run over while going for a run then I am of COVID. I live with another roommate who is my age. If we want to go to the pub why shouldn't we be able to? The idea of the lockdown was to stop the NHS from getting overrun. Its time people were allowed to make their own choices about things.

Out in Leeds for the first time yesterday. Weird experience to be honest, more like a Monday afternoon than a Friday night but everyone seemed to be behaving sensibly.

Agree 100% with that last bit. Sometimes go to a quirky little bar in Meanwood, Alfred. Only small but when there is no one at the bar the bar staff wander round the tables to see if anyone wants a drink. Great service, great for customers and costs nowt.

Yeah reminds me of been abroad where you take a seat and they come over and do the table service and pay at the end. It’s a lot better. Feels relaxed.

It's very dangerous though, went into a cocktail bar in Hamburg a few years ago and it was table service and settle the bill when you leave. We was in 2 hours and did 200 euros but it was a bloody great experience.

Yes it's allowed. It's now only guidance not law.

I went to Leeds to watch the footy, have a few beers and then something to eat. It was absolutely fine and not all that crowded as all you softies stayed at home and made up excuses.

I agree. One of my neighbours is the principal at a local secondary school with about 800 kids. Their school is an old one and even though the classes have no more than 20 kids, they cannot enforce social distancing because of the design of the school and the limitation on available classrooms and teachers to have even smaller classes. Instead, following the Govt's guidelines, she is in the process of creating social bubbles for all of her students. These will be year group social bubbles (above year 7) with around 100 student per bubble. Her view is that it is unsafe and unworkable and if one member of one child's family is tested positive for Covid 19, assuming that the track and trace system works, the entire year group has to go into self isolation. It's a transmission problem just waiting to happen.

You are the one being unreasonable. I don’t care if you yourself are responsible enough to be allowed in a pub as you will drink in moderation and keep social distancing, its not just you in the pub and you can't control everyone else. We have a real issue in this country with overindulging in alcohol and again all it takes is ONE idiot being enabled by pubs who across the country have consistently failed in their duty of care to their customers and you have an outbreak. We have already seen numerous pubs closed due to a customer having tested positive and they have only been open 4 days. In my area, we have also had five shut down by the council for failure to ensure customers were being responsible and abide by social distancing.

You can't have a place where people go to get drunk and which the pubs won't dare turn around and go 'You have had 2 we are cutting you off as it's even more socially irresponsible letting you get drunk than normal' in a bloody pandemic. It's maybe less of an issue for ones which have an outside area and who can then run a table service and not let customers inside because transmission is less likely outdoors but the simple fact is the R rate is rising, we have one city already back on lockdown, multiple others including Bradford close to joining them. It's one thing opening-up places where people are going to be in possession of their own common sense but not places where that common sense is diluted by the effects of alcohol.

Yep, but who takes notice of that anymore?

There's so much contradiction in the guidance that it makes no sense whatsoever. Young kids are allowed to go to school 5 days a week and play with 8 other kids and a couple of teachers but can't give their grandad a cuddle.

I played golf and had a couple of pints after -it was a sad, sterile experience, you could almost say desperate.
But just seen the news and it looked a proper night out down Soho!
