Sounds like you needed a drink more than most of us. Good job your local offy was open.

I was talking more about the general attitude outside a pandemic. We have a real issue in this country where the pubs who have a duty of care for their customers and a legal requirement not to over-serve customers don’t really take it serious enough. Hence our unacceptable levels of drunk driving and alcohol fuelled violence. They have to be so paralytic that there is no way they can argue the case not to serve people. That's damaging enough normally but that happening right now not only has the dangers that normally exist and a whole new set. I would be more open to pubs reopening if they were either not serving alcohol at all or if there were better systems in place to regulate how many drinks people can have (especially as again pub owners in the U.K. have been telling us for a long time the limited opening hours cause more binge drinking so when many pubs are limiting how long you can be in them is going to make that worse)

Sounds awful mate, don't know how you coped. 3 days without being able to work or earn.

Now you've got over the sarcasm, imagine that being 3 months and more like the pub landlords had to endure!

Had to smile about this, apparently it was a guy who went into both pubs to see his mates having been Covid positive, good job he only had the two mates as he could have closed all the pubs down in Ackworth if he'd had a few more .

Look I can appreciate them having issues by not being able to open and I'm all for finding ways to get as many businesses open as possible but again we are talking about an industry that serves people a substance that hinders their ability to think clearly and worse of all with the way landlords and bar staff don't do enough to cut people off sooner. If they weren't serving alcohol or they had a safe way to test that they weren't serving anyone who was over the Drink Drive Limit (And ideally if they have outside space not letting people inside the pub) I would be fine with it but we have enough sober idiots let alone adding drunk ones to it. Again I will point out its also an industry who have consistently called for opening restrictions to be relaxed or scrapped completely using the argument that it causes more drunkenness as people rush to get as many drinks in as possible but now in many cases, they are limiting how long someone can be in the pub. By their very own theory that's going to cause more binge drinking and thus more of the problems that go with that

Personally, though I'm not sure why some pubs haven't been more forward-thinking and done delivery services. Some of the restaurants that serve alcohol jumped onto service like Uber Eats and they will deliver alcohol and these delivery companies have been desperate to get new outlets onto their apps. All it would have taken was buying in some plastic cups suitable for delivery (Such as those you get at events) and they had an income stream to exploit (and even more so if they are one that serves food as they can also deliver food) but seems most of them are too stuck in the 1960s to be forward-thinking.

And you can go about me that it's only 3 days but you clearly know nothing about the industry I work in and what its like being self-employed in it. The majority of my work isn't consistent, I have a few who pay me a retainer so that's guaranteed income but most of my clients either hire me when they have a 1 off project or for emergency work. As a lot of my clients are either in industries that are shut down or on very limited operation or whose income is reliant on things like Ads when ad revenue is currently almost dead (This site is down 82% over the first 11 days of July compared to the first 11 days of last year, that's despite traffic being 37% higher, although posts are obviously down) then most one-off projects are pretty much off the table until at least 2021. So that leaves me reliant of the sporadic emergency work. A minimum of 3 working days is just too long in most cases, I lose that job and potentially that client long term. And at the time people like me were getting no governmental help and even when we did its a much inferior deal to what others get and ends well before things pick up so my anger at them impacting what income I might have both short term and long term by completely closing retailers who provide vital equiipment for both the self employed and those newly working from home when they could stay open safely while letting off-licences most of which can't really provide a safe environment stay open

Out in Leeds for the first time yesterday. Weird experience to be honest, more like a Monday afternoon than a Friday night but everyone seemed to be behaving sensibly.

I was an idiot and went to the pub for a few on Saturday. I'm absolutely certain it's a good thing and no where near the level of stupid Simon portrays it....

Hand sanitiser on the way in
    4 max to a table
    Table service
One way entry, one way exit

For what it's worth, table service can resume for me post lock down. Reet doo!

Agree 100% with that last bit. Sometimes go to a quirky little bar in Meanwood, Alfred. Only small but when there is no one at the bar the bar staff wander round the tables to see if anyone wants a drink. Great service, great for customers and costs nowt.

Yeah reminds me of been abroad where you take a seat and they come over and do the table service and pay at the end. It’s a lot better. Feels relaxed.

It's very dangerous though, went into a cocktail bar in Hamburg a few years ago and it was table service and settle the bill when you leave. We was in 2 hours and did 200 euros but it was a bloody great experience.

Yeah I loved it, the Reeperbahn is a great night out. We went to watch Hamburg play Bayern, will have to watch St Pauli next time!
