Think you had to book a table in most pubs in Idle for 2 hour slots. Idle Draper was a £20 ticket for 4 pints I believe.

Babysitting Grandson overnight for first time for 4 months for me and Mrs Idle. So that was better than going to pub!

To be honest I couldn’t think of anything worse. Booking a table to have a few pints and being made to leave when your times up? Garbage.

It’s not exactly like we couldn’t drink at home anyway. Don’t get the rush. I’ll save it for when it’s a bit more normal. Just doesn’t sound enjoyable to me

I know of several pubs in my area where everything was very well setup and rules were followed. I'm also aware of Soho and the Lane Ends because that's what the media want you to think happened everywhere up and down the country.

Seeing parents and other family members isn't essential either but I bet 95% of the country did it once the guidance was announced and lockdown was eased. What about the hairdressers, or museums and art galleries? Should they stay closed as its clearly not essential. Then what about Churches and Mosques? Places of worship are presumably massively high risk and definitely not essential yet are still allowed to open and if I was a betting man I'd probably make money by banking on social distancing guidance not being followed in at least a good percentage of the buildings.

You can't just pick and choose what parts of the guidance you agree with and therefore are happy to accept. Pubs and resteraunts needed to reopen, if not for the business owners who faced losing them but also for the general public.

Blimey, Simon hates drinkers more than he hates the BAME community.

It'a bit harsh labelling all landlords as "money grabbing bastards". From what I've read, many of the pubs in the UK have decided not to open until everything has settled down a bit, and people know how to behave when they are out. That's hardly money grabbing.
I'm a pub landlord, and we all are living in fear of having to go through a second lockdown, and are trying our best to ensure that doesn't happen. Over here in Tallinn, pubs were allowed to be open the whole time, providing rules were stuck to. I thought it was slightly socially irresponsible to remain open, so shut down for 6 weeks, losing 170k potential turnover in the process. That's also not money grabbing.
The ones who ARE money grabbing, are those who probably work under a tied house, and are having to be money grabbing, due to their double money grabbing bastard bosses, who will kick them out of pub and home if they don't pay rent. Instead of the UK Government paying 10€ per head for diners, they should be covering the rent for restaurants and pubs and telling the public to stay home until figures have gone down further and no new cases crop up. Or supply a household a 24 pack of beer and a bucket of wings each Friday for free. That'd work also ;)

I was an idiot and went to the pub for a few on Saturday. I'm absolutely certain it's a good thing and no where near the level of stupid Simon portrays it....

Hand sanitiser on the way in
    4 max to a table
    Table service
One way entry, one way exit

For what it's worth, table service can resume for me post lock down. Reet doo!

I'm following the advice given, like I have been since lockdown and if you'd been in the bars I was in on Saturday then you'd have seen that there is clearly a lot more close contact and a far riskier environment when I'm going food shopping.

Feel free to tell everyone to continue to stay at home for a good while longer though, that way the bars should stay relatively quiet so I can always grab a prime seat for watching the football.

You seem to use the word "stupid" a lot. It's a pretty sweeping generalisation, especially considering the majority were just following government guidelines?

Sounds awful mate, don't know how you coped. 3 days without being able to work or earn.

Now you've got over the sarcasm, imagine that being 3 months and more like the pub landlords had to endure!

I’m currently sat camping in a field having a bit of a holiday. Maybe I’m stupid, it’s probably just my genes.

Personally I feel anyone who went to the pub or those planning on going on holiday are idiots. We are seeing the R rate rising, outbreaks in other countries and we probably haven’t yet seen the biggest impact of all those idiots who went on BLM marches during a pandemic . Getting back to some normality is one thing but this next stage should have been delayed as imho we are going to just see it put us back on full lockdown

Family members happened in the previous easing though when the R rate was on the decline. And there are some of the other lockdown easing I don’t agree with either but those places aren’t serving stupid people alcohol making them even more stupid. Maybe at your pub you were lucky and everyone was sensible but as we saw that wasn’t the case across the board, especially when it came to younger people who are largely the same brain dead idiots who attended BLM protests and hence increased the likelihood they have it. If the country has to go back into Lockdown it’s not just pubs owners who lose their business, it’s going to kill basically every business in the country.

Not in nursery and reception they're not. I've seen the Government guidelines which specifically state that although measures are to be put in place to limit interactions (i.e. deep cleaning at the end of everyday, social bubbles etc.) social distancing does not have to be adhered to for those age groups.
