David Sharpe appointed Head Of Football Operations

So a massive improvement on Sparks while he has been with us then!

 

Just watched the interview. Came across well, but it didn't feel that it all falls under Sharpe. He said the final decision on a player lies with the manager and they will be recruiting to the manager's style of play.

I get the sense he has been brought in to stop us handing out 3 year contracts regardless and not getting in 6 random youngster on loan. That's definitely an improvement.

 

Of course, I will believe it when I see it, he ALSO said , GA has HIS style and has the last say on recruitment. Did you not hear that bit? When asked he said his plan was based on “contracts” , whatever that means ?

Listen carefully you miss the important bits instead of hanging one’s coat on a single word.

He said it was his job to recruit for GA’s style and “ offer” players for GA’s acceptance ( or not) .
So where does that leave Gent.

Didn’t Sparks say a while ago there was no need for a DOF? Tbh with his ego I wouldn’t be surprised if the title is called different just for him to save face so he doesn’t have to admit he’s wrong.

Well if it comes down to who has the last word on recruitment my guess it will be Sharpe. It looks like an open contract to me. He is talking planning ( yes I know I should wash my mouth out) but he did several times, he is talking multiple windows to get it right, so inadvertently asking the fans for patience; none of the above will be achieved if you keep having spats about different players. I am thinking a short term and long term plan will be drawn up. GA and DS will be hopefully be working together as he alluded to in that it has to work. If it is working we will see improvement.

I am in a quandary as to whether to renew or wait and see if this all starts to happen.

 

It was the recent interview when asked directly about DOF and he said it had been considered and that in his view it was not necessary atm. Obviously after about a month it is now necessary. However, he said today it was something he had been wanting for sometime. Make out of that what you will.

Wonder if he’s been told by rupp get help or your on your bike. It needs to work even more for him now as there’s a ready made replacement in the building

Well impressed with the interview think he was dying to say more but simply couldnt lets hope now we actually start bring in players that will get us oit of this league.
He did well at Mansfield so at least he knows this level so thats a bonus just hope that Sparks and Gent are nothing near any kind of football matters anymore

 

Seriously dont take a blind bit of notice of anything that comes out of his mouth the guy hopefully now will be well away from football matters
