I agree that Evans isn't doing the business, but I'm not massively sold on putting Rowe out wide. I think with guys like that you need em through the middle in the danger areas, as good a crosser as he seems to be based on that pearl of a ball in against stevenage.

Rowe should be starting for me, he was one of Oldham’s better players and he is one of ours too, and the goal against Bolton shows what he is capable of. He makes things happen.

He was on the bench a lot at Oldham as well and there is a reason for that. He is a good natural finisher but doesn’t contribute enough to earn a starting place I think he will continue as a late sub

Why do people think he doesn’t contribute enough, he is a goal scorer, perhaps not the quickest but you don’t always need that.

To say he doesn’t contribute enough is rubbish imo, the only argument I can see is he doesn’t fit into our system which relies on one up front and cook has been keeping him out of the side.

We are not exactly having lots of goal attempts on target and need to consider him starting in place of Evans or Donaldson. He is a threat in L2.

We've played better since Donaldson was put back in. Rowe is a luxury player that has his moments but there's a reason the management don't start him.

I do agree that CD has made a positive impact but I still think there must be a way we can shoehorn in a player of Rowes ability in home games against sides nearer the bottom.

Whether that means having to pay 2 up front or not though I'm not sure.

We play better with Donaldson in at 10 because he is a natural attacking player and his instincts are to play higher up the pitch. If/when Cooke comes back it will be interesting to see who gets the 10 shirt. Cooke is a natural midfielder who only occasionally breaks into a forward position. We have a greater attacking threat with Donaldson playing there.

Is this a serious question? If and when Cooke comes back he gets the 10 shirt. You can shoehorn Donaldson in wherever you want but not in front of Cooke at 10.

To get the best from Rowe (and the goals) he needs to be given a free role as an attacking midfielder as part of the three in the current system, At the moment that would be Scales, Donaldson and Rowe,
Rowe is clever enough to find space out wide when needed but also to cut in with his firepower

How much due diligence did we carry out before signing him? We were determined to recruit him. As I've stated a number of times, he's never looked like he wants to be here. Having got him, T&S don't seem to know how to accomodate him. Didn't we pay a fee? What was the point? Saturday summed the situation up. Stood by the corner flag, like a day out in the park, looking totally disinterested.

Initially, I thought Rowe was a great signing. In the lower leagues, his scoring ratio is tres impressive. The first few games with us, I expect like most people, was thinking - yeaahhhh! A guy who bangs them in for fun, way out or tap ins. But now I'm thinking that something behind the scenes has gone badly, madly wrong. Rowe now seems to be a fringe player, who a la Harrogate, doesn't even get brought on though we're losing. Honestly, what's going on here? What's the story? I get this awful feeling that shit is happening behind the scenes. Training ground/dressing room bust ups? Ego over weaning? Wish we could all get to know the truth of what's actually going on here. At Harrogate on the sidelines, Rowe looked like he'd given up the will to live.

    He is a good signing.

Just think Doyle under Bowyer and you will get your answers.

I don't think you're far wrong. If you recall, after his bright start, he went down with a "cold" that went on and on and he was missing for a while. Things have never been right since. Is there a reason, behind the scenes, for our loss of form in recent weeks. Sure as hell, something's not right.

Something's definitely not right. If you put the goals Rowe has scored in his short time here, against actual minutes on the field,he won't be far off a goal a game player, yet that does not seem good enough for our managers.

Sign a goalscorer and the management have no idea how to use him. Now where have I heard that one before?

I wonder if Rowe was a player McCall wanted and a deal had already been agreed in principle before T&S took over. I've heard them talk a few times about how they'd identified Cook as a player they really wanted and how delighted they were to get him, I don't remember them speaking as enthusiastically about Rowe.

Possibly. I think McCall did a piece in the T&A saying he could have turned things around because they had already identified Canavan and Rowe to bring in. But I can't imagine he was brought in without T&S agreeing to it.

Allegedly the 'cold' he had was actually a training ground bust up with Callum Cooke.

I do wonder whether he is a difficult and disruptive character to manage?

Oldham didn't seem to fight too hard to hang onto him, did they
