Danny Rowe - The New Charlie Wyke - now with poll

Need a definition of scoring 'for fun'. I don't recall it happening too often !

 

Players don't normally score many 25 yarders in a season, 1 or 2 if they are lucky. From what I remember he scored 5 I think it was. Funny, others understood the analogy.

 

If for some reason Cooke misses a game this season i would play Rowe in that postion as a free role and Cook up top.

 

Charlie Wyke needed service. Danny Rowe can create his own chances.

 

Yes I have, and I’m waiting for him to change my mind. Hopefully today he puts a full shift in. Biggest test of his talent this match. Definitely no room for disinterested players.

 

OK - it's Pedant's Corner time.
I know I'll get pelters for this, and probably rightly so, but it's doing my nut in because I so often see the word 'disinterested' used incorrectly.

'Disinterested' means being impartial or having no skin in the game.

'Uninterested' means you couldn't care less.

Possibly an attempt to lay the groundwork for a move to two up top in future? Or they maybe made a bit of a mistake in just what type of player he is. Although I would be surprised at that as if they didnt understand him as a player I doubt he'd have joined at all. I suspect the thinking might be he gives us something different on the pitch to novak or cook and tbf he does that. like you say mate a bit of a head scratcher, but he seems to have bought in to what we're offering and is happy enough so all is well for the moment.

 

I saw him bust a gut a few times against mansfield to help out the defence, hes never gonna be all action captain fantastic cos thats just not how he plays the game. reminds me of berbatov a bit in how little he looks like he gives a shit when hes playing

Does anyone know if we have a sell on clause on Wyke.
I assume we have a gaol bonus up to a point. Of which we should of maxed out now. He’s having a good season.

 

I don't care how we accommodate him but I want him to start every game.

 

He really is an composed finisher how often have we seen last minute chances fly over or wide. Yes he has a powerful shot but he can be very accurate as well you can see why he has scored as many as he has. He is good on the ball as well

 

Rowe scores goals. Always has, and hopefully for us, always will. That's all you need. We've been crying out for predatory strikers for years. Like you, couldn't give a toss what formation you play him in - and I don't think Rowe does. His philosophy always seems to have been very simple....'Put me on the pitch, and point me towards the opposition goal'. The stats don't lie.

 

Rowe's career goal stats are certainly impressive - a goal every 1.86 games.
Andy Cook's goal stats are not in Rowe's league but also very good - a goal every 2.78 games.
Great to have competition between two genuine goalscorers.

 

Not that simple though. Like any player, to get the best out of him you are going to have to play a certain way. Put him in the right formation with the right players around him and he'll get you goals.

 

Regarding the comparison Wyke has scored 25 in 38 in all competitions this season.

 

I see Danny's previous club have parted company with Kewell.

 

I think we will change to a 4-3-3 type formation sometime in the future. From the front it would be Cook as target man with Rowe playing/doing what he wants around Cook and one of the three wide players giving us width and speed. The midfield would be from Sutton, Watt, Cooke, Evans and Clarke and of course the back 4 would be as present. That way we can accommodate both Cook and Rowe as well as giving us a bit more fire power and also space for Rowe to work in.
