Danny Rowe - The New Charlie Wyke - now with poll

But isn't this the same theory as some of the terrible non league players we've signed because "they've scored loads of goals against Southend in the non league"? Ross Hannah scored about 400 goals in that division. I rest my case.

Rowe is performing well at the level he's meant to be in.

 

I wouldn’t call the National league a poor league, most of the teams in it would hold their own in our terrible league. Ross Hannah got his load of goals in a league lower than the National league. Just hope we don’t draw one of these poor National league teams in the Fa cup first round or we are out.

 

Not taking anything away from a very good result at Southend but they are a nightmare season so far under Phil Brown.

Rowe's a good striker, always has been, but in non league. He scored a hat trick today against one of the bottom clubs in Tier 5. Good luck to him, but I bet Southend's defence were alot easier to play against than Newport County's would have been for him. Would you really want him back, Cap'n?

 

I would swap him tomorrow for any of Robinson, Lavery, Angol who will be another sick note. I thought he was a fair player, scored five goals for us and it’s five more than Robinson or Lavery will score this season. Do you think Lavery and Robinson would score a hat trick even against Southend?

 

Talking of which (Southend) they have sacked Phil Brown tonight along with Craig Fagan ( one of our ex's I think)...

The quality is appalling making us look good is no mean feat.

 

So easy just lost his marker and a simple near post header, I didn't realise he'd been injured for a while I was under the impression he'd had a fall out with Chesterfield but the commentator said it was the first time he'd played back to back games since last October.

I think the reason he was out of action for so long was due to a heart problem that we knew about so were happy to move him on?

 

The official line is “an unspecified health issue”, but the Chesterfield forum suggests it’s been his ticker.

Athletically he's borderline unprofessional.

I'm not surprised he spent so much time in non league.

Just not cut out to be a career pro, IMO.

Came off after 70 mins and went to hospital. There must be question marks about his playing future.

At least when he's a Grandad telling his grandchildren that he definitely was good enough to have played at a much higher level, he'll be right.

It has never been about whether he's good enough or not.

But we should never have touched him, as whatever issues have prevented him from being a good level pro were well embedded many years ago.

He achieved everything he had the stomach for, and fair play to him. I can't knock that. He just wasn't a 'pro'.
