Doesn't matter how you paint it this season has been a disaster.

In my eyes Rowe actually brought very little to the team other than a powerfull shot, and if we continue with this formation , under the managers , his game time will be limited again next season . He is 32 years old and played less than 1 season at league 2 level , i think we can and will get better. Oldham did not try to keep him and neither have we.
So i have had a word with myself and still believe my opinion to be reasonable , it may prove to be incorrect ,but that is football and no one knows how it will turn out.
I think it was a gamble on the clubs part. We were in a dreadfull position , but the longer it went on the less of a fit he looked to how the managers want to play. Best to move him on now , than hang on to him and maybe have to pay wages next season for a player that might not want to give his all to the team and become a disrupting influence. I would have thought you liked this decisive actions of the club , rather than letting things drag on.

Indeed but I think T&S (Turnbull) wanted Cook and when it looked like that deal was not going anywhere they signed Rowe. Anyway not too fussed he is gone.

Because we were watching a team where we couldn’t see where the next result was coming from we had lost six or seven on the trot and we’re heading only one way. Notice how many of the teams at the top are having very mixed results the difference is they have the points in the bag. If we had just a few more points in the bag when they took over they would be well in it now. So yes getting where we are is a success

Oh i'm not fussed he's gone, you need to offer more to a team than just a cannonball shot. I did say on here a month or two back that Rowe would not be the guy to get you promotion, i even questioned where the goals were coming from to win games. Very few agreed with me.

It's a terrible look considering the song and dance they made in January about doing due diligence to make sure the players they brought in wanted to be here and were the right fit for the club.

This is the thing, Trueman talks about there being lots of strikers in the building but Rowe is the only one whose contract extends past this season.

True Petrov, but as the vast majority on here dont think we are anywhere near good enough with what we currently have it that such a bad thing? I think it is going to be a busier summer than I did a month ago

Do not bank on Cook coming back, Division one clubs will be interested

Agreed - I would find all of this a lot more palatable if:

    a) we were scoring freely

    b) someone one here tells me Novak IS in the starting 11 on Saturday (for City by the way...........and has not just signed for Port Vale :D)

That might be the case , i can not see him staying with Mansfield , option or not. I would certainly offer him and novak deals for next season. Both know where the net is and on very limited supply from our current squad , Callum Cooke the exception.

We were also watching the same team within a win off a play off spot play safe from relegation negative formation a goal down with one striker on the pitch refuse point blank to throw on another and still lose that's the sign of a team not knowing where the next result is coming from

Novak is injury prone so we need at least another 1 striker
However as this season shows we only ever play one

Well we had 5 strikers this morning Novak , Cook, Rowe, The Don and the invisible man that is Mr Burrell.
Come June we might not have any of them.

    Absolutely no chance.

    Failed utterly at Mansfield.

Zero shot at a League One club.

Precisely. Which is why I'm mystified why people are busy making the irrelevant point that 'Cook is better'.

For what it's worth I also think Cook is better. But of course it's all based on the ludicrous situation whereby it's 'either or'. Heaven forbid we should have two goalscoring strikers on the pitch at the same time.
