Danny Rowe - The New Charlie Wyke - now with poll

I presume the National League is exempt from the rule of being only allowed to play for 2 teams in one season?

Not bothered about him leaving, Cook is the better of the two, just hope we can recruit better in the summer.

I suspect T&S never really fancied Rowe, let's not forget that they were still interim managers when he was signed, so probably didn't have much input.

 

How do you know getting Rowe out of the club , is not a statement of intent. Brought him in , dont like him and so allowed him to move on, so they can look elswhere.
I am also sick and tired of supporters calling other fans out as happy clappers. no one wants to see us lose matches or stand still as a club, but some are more realistic as to what can be achieved and the timescale , given the clubs financial position.
How many times have we been in admistration after spending money we did not have. Think of Bury, maybe slightly different circumstances but what would their fans give to be back in the football league.

 

This was Dennis's comment "This is a puzzle to me. With few full games under his belt for us, he's largely been a bit part player but Rowe has scored 5 goals from 789 mins of game time - a little less than 9 full games worth" so it really doesn't back your above comment up.
But lets not debate whether he should start or not, with regards Dennis's stats it would suggest that even when he doesn't start he scores, so I ask again why would T&S not bring him (or anyone other striker on) after 60/70 minutes to try and get us back in a game that we never looked likes scoring in, it was a no brainer don't you agree ?.

 

A lot of fans really rated Danny Rowe, even higher than Andy cook...

I agree it’s poor but that wasn’t the debate was it.

 

I agree with Andy C. We are all disappointed that we didnt make the playoffs, not as disappointed as we would have been if we were playing in the National League. When you sign a player we all hope it works out well, but that cant be guaranteed. If we had hung on to him and paid his wages when he didnt want to be here, so wouldny have given his best, we would have complained again. We dont know why he has left

 

Read the same with regards Rowe's comment of wanting regular football, which player wouldn't at 32 years of age, T&S couldn't guarantee it which is an honest reply, so as you say best for both parties, but that does not mean we cant give the lad 20+ minutes against a team when were losing at home that for me is bad management irrelevant of whether he scores or not, we didn't take the chance and that's what most fans wanted on Tuesday night.

 

In my eyes Rowe actually brought very little to the team other than a powerfull shot, and if we continue with this formation , under the managers , his game time will be limited again next season . He is 32 years old and played less than 1 season at league 2 level , i think we can and will get better. Oldham did not try to keep him and neither have we.
So i have had a word with myself and still believe my opinion to be reasonable , it may prove to be incorrect ,but that is football and no one knows how it will turn out.

 

Cook may not be here next year Mansfield would be mad not to take up the optional year left on his contract
That would leave us with an injury prone Novak and thoughts of giving Clayts another year
Recruiting better in the summer is looking like a must or it will be another season finishing mid table which is a success according to one of our posters on here

 

Clearly Rowe is a bad apple and the club have got rid ASAP.

Ok, it's 9 in 20 apparently so not quite, but a good record for a striker, especially given how dire we we have been for most of his time with us.

On loan or not Cook has done the business for is as a striker under this management team, we can't just pretend that hasn't happened.

I actually think Rowe was only signed because it looked like the Cook deal had died, once the Cook deal was resurrected (when Novak was injured) it left us with a signing who didn't really fit in, and I think he knew it.

 

Could it be that we haven't had an attack minded manager, or one that knows how to coach attacking play, for a couple of decades.

Lets hope when we took him on loan from Mansfield we inquired about his availability and the possibility of signing him permanently as he was out of contract but with a 12 month option.

 

It's not a success when in a strong position for a play off spot we failed when we had nothing to lose
Yes things could have been worse but with a bit of backbone could have been a lot better
We let a play off spot slip due to stubborn negativety
How low are your standards when mid table league 2 is seen as a major success regardless of early season form

 

According to McCall Rowe was a striker that had been on the clubs radar for a while.

Look he didn't suit a 4-3-2-1 but we knew he goalscorer, so basically we we didn't build a team around him but come on 1-0 down and we need a goal but T & S still play 4-3-2-1 and don't bring Rowe on to go 4-4-2.

I just think that we made a huge mess of this signing.
