The point being, I’m not sure Bowyer will “give him a chance FGS”. The chances are that Bowyer will start the season with Anderson and one from Akpan, Wright, Reeves or whoever he signs in the window. Devine will be pushed down the list.
Do you really expect Bowyer to start with Anderson and Devine and give them a run in the side?

Right, okay [cracks knuckles].....
Secondly, McBurnie sale could prove very influential. The debt (I prefer overspend) was covered by Rupp anyway - the sale, IMO, is purely extra. *
Why would Rupp commit to the same playing budget as per last season (before Rahic’s £1.1m overspend - minus FA solidarity payments (£400k)? Its just another example of a fan who believes we’re skint, and cleverly playing on fan unrest.
Finally, you have already (correctly) established the gross calculations from the remaining playing budget - on the basis that the scenario painted above plays out. You talk about signing players on £3k per week and how many numbers could be signed on the dotted line based on those figures - but you have failed to realise just how large £3k per week wages are in L2 and precisely what quality they bring.
The current £1m budget stretches father than you care to realise.
* Bowyer has already (cleverly) covered the fact that we’re unwilling to be bent over a barrel by agents demanding unrealistic wages - “because we’re Bradford City”. I smell smoke and mirrors....the club have far more money at their disposal than what any article/club official let’s on they have....and fair play to them. -
If I believe this claim, you are suggesting we are paying £500k to Scannell leaving £1.1m for the remaining 15 players? This gives an average of £1400 a week for everyone else. You can’t really believe this... surely?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

Not all share the same blinkered view as you - but that’s not your fault, it’s what you’ve read. -

(I tend to be a player watcher ......... Forgive me, my sins )
Initially, Jake was wanting and intelligently using the ball. However, something drastic changed quite quickly: Jake then began to play as an 'underling' alongside Nicky Law. I for one saw that this was not in Reeves' own game plan, and soon it wore him down - The lad became increasingly frustrated, and his performance levels dropped.
I'm sure many will disagree. But football is a confidence sport, and to knock that confidence has it's consequences. In retrospect ....... Look what McCall did for Marshall, that Parky couldn't.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
@Bigrod Am I right in thinking that the 16 that are still here will be averaging on approx £2000 a week? That would come to approx £1.6 million? Obviously some will be on more and some on less. Plus I am not sure if bonuses are included.
That would be well over the average for lg2? -
Sean Scannell is earning (well. getting) championship wages.

I don't listen to WOTP or people close to the board trying to lower fans expectations.
Last year was awful but Bowyer is no mug he wouldn't of signed a 2 year contract to stay in div 2.

I agree with you that an extra £1m isn’t generous. My point was that it will only allow us to sign 5 top quality players. And based on the performance of the majority of our current squad, we do need 5 quality signings as a minimum.
You refer to Exeter as an example of a team that “don’t do bad at this level”. Whilst that may be true, will you (or any of our fan base for that matter) be happy to have a team in the bottom tier that are “not bad”? There may be a reason Exeter haven’t played in L1 for many a year.
You also make a valid point about Wright and Akpan. Again, my point is that as things stand, Devine (irrelevant as to how much we are paying him), currently sits behind them and Anderson in the pecking order. Bowyer effectively said as much when he said he wants Danny to push on and try to establish himself in the team. And if Reeves becomes available, he’ll push Devine down further still. And this doesn’t even consider that Bowyer May want to bring in another central midfielder to place loanee O’BrienStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand...
