You're very wrong, I'm afraid. And Covid won't be 'sorted'. It is/will be endemic, like the flu.

Worldwide? We have one of the highest vaccine rates in the world? You cant say worldwide when the worldwide average is below our average that makes no sense.

    Regarding texas.

I'm not sure of the point you're making, other than strengthen what I've said about the vaccine NOT having a marked impact on transmission.

Infection rates in Texas peaked at 22,000 per day back in January, when they had no one vaccinated. They're back at that level, with 60% of their entire state population vaccinated.

An the UK has more than 80% of the adult population fully vaccinated. Way beyond the threshold for typical herd immunity. So if ti works in the way you seem to think, why do we need vaccine passports? Why is there credible talk of ANOTHER lockdown in October?

But we're not in Germany? I'm clearly talking about the NHS and its funding here.

Ah thats fair, i would be very surprised if transmission was the same even with a vaccine.

    Define less likely.

A football player is less likely to score a goal if they play 85min of a game compared to playing 90min of a game.

I'm not taking the mickey, I'm just interested to know what defines less likely.

After all the link you gave included this line

"A study from Houston, Texas observed that Delta caused a significantly higher rate of breakthrough infections in fully vaccinated people compared with infections from other variants"

Seeing as it's basically the delta variant that exists within the UK, any transmission reduction to other variants may aswell be disregarded at this stage.

    So?

i made the point about if people’s attitudes would change if we were being paid to use it at the point of service? What has current nhs funding got to do with that? I started this conversation then you butted in randomly talking about something else? Then you are surprised that i am trying to keep it on subject? What are you smoking mate?

it actually says in that link about transmission being worse with Delta than the original variant even for those vaccinated . Put simply the vaccines don’t stop Delta as much so transmission is higher than original studies

Nope thats a valid point, i said less likely as i do not have the actual stats in terms of percentages it could be 99% less likely or 1% less likely. Not too sure there unfortunately.

Yes i am aware of delta being more transmissible but im sure vaccines still make it or can make it less transmissible right? Might not have been clear but that was my point.

disregarding it is a bit harsh yet as they haven’t said it returns to same transmission as unvaccinated just it is higher than other variants. As the vaccine worked better than anticipated at reducing transmission to start with the significant increase could still be significantly lower than unvaccinated. The data isn’t in yet,

I think all along it's all about the hospitals and trying to reduce the amount of people going into them. Mainly because they are underpaid, understaffed and overworked. The lockdowns, the masks, the vaccines and the communication are all to prevent people passing it on and overloading the hospitals. Same thinking probably centres around football grounds, nightclubs and other large events. They just don't want a load of people possibly having to go to hospital en masse.

You only have to look at this forum. I have been one of those who from the start has said vaccines were to protect yourself against the serious effects of Covid and I have been shouted down saying it reduces transmission etc.

I've always been against Covid passports because I have said from day 1 that the vaccine protects you and you can still catch and pass Covid with a vaccine, but you will be in a better place to fight it if you do.
