But why is conditions in the 40s relevant Dave? Covid 19 didn't exist then.
No one is trying to claim that South Asian people in Bradford, Bolton, Blackburn etc have it tougher than White British people did pre-WW2.
But, as I explained, a combination of types of jobs, often overcrowded multi-generational housing, large families living close to each other and religious myths/misinformation about vaccines make their communities more likely to catch, spread and avoid vaccinating against Covid.
Surely that's so well known as to be not even controversial?

Just pointing out as you no doubt lived through it, the conditions back then were as poor if not poorer, families living together multi occupants in one house and many other comparable things poor working conditions low wages hardly unique to what we see today.
We agree the Covid situation is a religious decision because many believe taking the jab conflicts with their religious belief hence my comment about the Leeds Imam on TV trying to convince them that the vaccine does not go into their bloodstream, so why are people surprised the % of Covid patients would be higher within different cultures with different beliefs.

Still a sea of under 3 cases near me. It seems to be to the west of and south west of the City with Girlington been the highest. However we are still looking at fairly low figures with only the blue areas in double figures. This is well into a week of all hospitality being reopened and household mixing being "allowed".

Keighley towards Skipton, Ilkley and Bingley is all low, Shipley towards Guiseley is all low as is the east of the City.

But these are cases in a vaccinated population so are relatively meaningless as we all know the virus can still pass even when vaccinated, it's all about deaths and hospitalisations at this stage.

It is more about hospitalisation and deaths. Both still relatively low but do seem to have bottomed out and rising but a long way to go up before anything will happen. We look to be at roughly start of September levels

Well done the media, they absolutely smashed Matt Hancock tonight by asking the same line of question over and over.

Let's just remember what Matt Hancock said last year.

Am I misunderstanding the Hancock thing?

Everyone was aware that until 15th April people were being sent back from hospital because they didn't have enough tests and/or they didn't understand the extent of asymptomatic transmission (depending on which version of the yarn they tell). This is the biggest mess up in the whole thing and 100% should be a big focus.

But isn't it all to do with whether Hancock was honest or knowlegeable about when this changed and/or whether it was truly put into action when he claimed?

No surprise the Tory press cannot find or are ignoring this document but am amazed the independent press have not found and published it

Not everyone, and I guess this minister was probably relaying what he was told as it isn't his brief. So who told him? The PM because Hancock told the PM or Hancock himself?

If they didn't know they weren't paying attention - Hancock even did one of his press conferences about it when they expanded the testing. Probably on the same day as that earlier tweet.

Dowden is being vague there, testing was available but wasn't to be used on people without symptoms which clearly still caused massive issues.

Hancock at tonight's press conference seems to be claiming he was the one who sorted out all the testing. He really thinks he is superman or something.

The most telling part of today was when Boris refused to comment on if he backed his health secretary.

If Hancock was a second hand cars salesman I wouldn't buy a car from him.

Seems the variants are being pulled out of takeaways.

We have had the original Chinese, then the Indian and now we have the Thai.

Maybe the Kent was really a mutation of the Kentucky Fried Variant.

    Mexican Variant next?

Actually thinking about it, wasn't Boris recently seen to be spending £400 a day on takeaways?

Nice day to throw a new variant into the ring following the recent shitshow.

Also gives them another excuse to delay 21st June.

Just off subject, I liked what Cummins said about the top secret COBRA meetings where each member had to leave mobile phones, Tablets and any recording equipment outside, The room was then swept for any bugging devices before each meeting, But he said it was a waste of time because as soon as it was over Nicola Sturgeon went straight to the press and blabbed it all

Over 3k cases for several days in a row.

Let's just look at that. That's off the back of 1m tests a day.
That's a positive rating of 0.3% even with surge testing facilities in the highest case areas.

Cases were at about 2500 without household mixing, or any indoor hospitality, 3k is really more to be expected in the circumstances. These scientists don't expect rates to stay the same do they?

People are set on June 21st, the pushback of this date will probably not be tolerated by a large percentage of the population. We are at the stage where anyone over 30 can walk into a vaccination centre to get vaccinated and we have the absurd situation of people still shitting their pants even when double jabbed. If people are still scared then maybe they should sit indoors and leave everyone else to it.

I'vd had Covid, and I've had one jab and it's time to get back to normal.

We expected cases to go up when people interacted more.

People are intersecting more and case are going up.

I don't see the issue. Were people expecting it to stay at 2,000 cases a day regardless of what people do?

Deaths are still low, way below an acceptable level. The hope is that the vaccines have broken the link between cases and deaths so hopefully the two won't link up.
