Of course not everyone would. But the spotlight would be much more focused on them if they were the exception to the general opening up.

The focus has been on that area all the way though the pandemic but made no difference. I think you're being idealistic to think that a change in rules would make a difference to people who are ignoring the rules.

I know there's a lot of focus on the variant however it's all over the country, but it's only Bolton that's the problem. Given the vaccination rate in the area isn't the real story simply "unvaccinated people catch disease".

My Facebook (a relatively wide variety of people) is full of people in each others houses and stood less that 1m away from each other.

Walking around Leeds the mask wearing is still pretty compliant but the social distancing is long gone!

Nobody can tell me that all the people that you see crashing into Old Trafford or celebrating Rangers title win shoulder to shoulder with others are then going home and sitting in the garden in the rain!

There is a difference between observing the rules "pretty closely" and strict adherence to them so I would suggest that "nearly everyone you know" may have also broken at least one lockdown rule.... however unwittingly.

When the danger was real people were following the rules, now with a high number of vaccinations people are just using their own judgement as to what rules they observe.

There were anti lockdowns marches yesterday, pro Palestinian marches yesterday, Rangers fans celebrating, Man U fans protesting, Celtic fans giving Scott Brown a send off, teams of clubs which made the play offs and won promotion gathering, people going into each others houses because the weather wasn't fit to staying outside.

Who really turns a family member away if they rock up at their house or makes them stand on the doorstep?

All this is going on, and you can choose to pretend it isn't but there is no surge in the figures, hospitalizations and deaths continue to fall.

We were told 4 people died of Indian Covid, we were not told their age, their health, if they had been vaccinated or even if they had recently been to India. We were left to speculate to drive fear into the population.

If these people got Covid which wasn't the India variant they may well have died.

The current Covid figures aren't based on current tier restrictions, they are based on on people pushing it far further than the current restrictions allow and they are still falling.

Anyone who believes that Monday will be the first time that people will have been in other peoples houses since Christmas might aswell believe in the tooth fairy.

That's slightly different, that is your vaccine record.

As I understand it, the 'passport' will come in a different form, with a 'QR' code. It is a bit of a moving feast, however, as it is subject to change, as talks with other countries progress.

That only appeared yesterday as an update so it would be weird that two updates would come through so quickly, unless it was something that my GP just did

It's the people and the media outlets that want to come back and shout "Gotcha! " to the government in a couple of months that are setting their positions.

Out on the street people are happy with the level of risk and just want normality.

Let’s be honest those most at risk and those second, third and fourth most at risk are probably all vaccined up now. The whole point of the vaccines is two get life back to a decent level of normality and those that are traditionally most at risk from serious illnesses and death from it are now supposedly safe. If we open up and the deaths and hospitalisations rise steeply then it’s a case of the vaccines are failing but at least we’ll know. Until we open up more we won’t know if the vaccines or lockdowns that are having an effect on the virus. If it’s lockdowns then we’re screwed as the economy will be totally ruined and people will keep suffering more and more with mental illness and other illnesses such as cancer treatments that have for some reason gone on the back burner.

As others have said the press and some others are setting up their position now so they can all put the government in future. Surprised Labour aren’t standing up so they can moan later, then if nothing happened they can say the government got lucky

And you'll still be able to go to football matches, concerts, indoor gatherings without the vaccination or that Fecking passport.

I'm not fussed both me and the missus feel better in ourselves after having the jab, I see the fake Covid vaccine and test certificate market is growing, researchers say people won't get a jab yet will go to thd extent of purchasing a fake test certificate, that's really pathetic.

That screenshot is what will be available. The international accepted QR system and the transfer of data that that would involve hasn’t been agreed yet. For those without a smart phone you can request a paper certificate

No issues anybody having the jab. Absolutely one of choice.

I wasn't aware of fake test certification but I'm quite happy in my head that fake or real, your won't need a "passport" one for concerts, football or whatever you quoted up above.

Who just "rocks up" at a family members house in the middle of a pandemic FFS?
I don't know one single person who behaves like that. All of my social contacts are arranged in advance in ways that comply with the rules.

I didn't see my son in person for seven months. I eventually met up with him and his partner four weeks ago, and also with my daughter and her partner. We each booked separate lodges at a holiday park, went out for walks in the daytime and ate evening meals on our lodge's patio, socially distanced, despite the cold weather.
All our contacts with friends and family since restrictions were eased a few weeks ago have been outside, in compliance with the rules. Most of my friends and neighbours have been similarly respectful of the rules.
Clearly the country is split between those who believe that complying with the rules is the right thing to do in the interests of the common good, and those who just do what they feel like doing.
