My understanding is, your employer will claim a grant from HMIR to the value of 80% of your salary. That would be your normal pay, rather than overtime. Your employer may well decide to top it up or not. Your employer and in consultation with you decide how he wants you to work, at home if possible or they may ask you to stay at home if there is nothing for you to do given the situation.
It will probably be April before that is up and running, but given the guarantee from the government it is coming your employer can get a interest free loan from the Banks which is also backed by the government.

 

This is correct but the problem is that if a business has let someone go then I very much doubt they will call them back to work for them.

A lot of companies let people go even before Friday's announcement because they have an excuse too.

I felt that those been made redundant or unemployed need more support plus self employed.

 

one thing is that if they claim the 80% it is because they were/have going to lay you off. You can not work during the period they are claiming for you. You are classed as furloughed

 

It's extremely tough and boring but at this moment togetherness is vital. What app, on here, phoning, texting people etc is massive.

As an individual we all need to exercise, go outside and have a positive mindset plus try to have a laugh.

People are not taking this seriously. Me, @SimonW and @king karl had a good debate last night about what needs to be done but in truth it's not straightforward and no one has the answers. It's a kind of hope and pray situation but people are not taking this seriously. I don't know about Italy but 60k fines from the police to people highlights that something is wrong.

This country needs to be ashamed of itself. It's an embarrassment in these dark times. What's happening in supermarkets is a disgrace and not happening in other countries. They are some right selfish people are their that are just not bothered. I fear the worse with all this because people are not listening. The longer these people don't listen the longer this boring lockdown continues.

I can't wait to get back to hammering the club I love and having jokes with you all on here. Right now I would love to watch City behind closed doors on tv but it's a long way a way.

Stay strong, exercise, eat healthy, don't drink too much, read, go outside.

Also try not to touch money. I have a strong feeling this can be spread through money but no government will come out and say that.

Hopefully today will bring better news.

I know, but Rishi backdated it to Match 1st. Although I do understand some employers will use this as an opportunity to get rid of staff. Like John Lewis closing all there stores, I will guarantee not all of them will be opened in line with the switch to online shopping.
I agree, I would like to see an increase in payments to the unemployed and an upgrade of the benefit system. However, I am also increasingly worried about the country finances, just hoping we can bounce back from this, but for now we have to take care of all our people.

 

Plus no sport activities outside even individually

 

@Fordy117, I despair at those ppl ‘who think it doesn’t apply to them’ going out nilly willy. Very irresponsible. There are wonderful doctors and nurses risking their own lives in order to help and treat ppl, and these selfish ppl don’t give a toss.

I agree. Unfortunately, the world leaders didn't think before giving us the facts. The facts are a certain age group are in more danger than others but they dont know how this is spreading.

So instead of warning us all that every age group is in danger the people under 45 think it's a low risk that something bad will happen to them and when you see a listers on tv claiming to have it and they are fine then it backs it up. Showing a fit Chelsea player or the Arsenal manager having it is damaging to people taking this seriously.

The media are not helping. Sky and others seem to have an agenda. Instead of them demanding or questioning hotels, football owners for not giving up their beds or space for people to sleep such as the NHS or for utility companies to freeze bills they just want to ask Boris stupid questions and make him look a bigger clown than he does normally. I said it the other day that this isn't the time to be praising any politician and to be honest it's not the time for politics. I do believe all of the leaders should be deciding together on things to get this right and show togetherness in these dark times but because we are not doing that it's why incentives are getting announced but certain groups are missing out such as the self employed etc.

I'd a feeling this country would struggle with this as it fails to tackle major problem. It's 2020 and we still haven't got on top of racism, more ethical people in senior positions, LGBT issues, pay guides for staff etc As a country we go hiding and we have this look at me I am tough but really we are weak and them people that stock pile in supermarkets with no consideration of others highlights this which is sad.

Every day we’re getting a death toll, and every day it’s saying they all had underlying health issues and most were old. The media and government need to stop this, whilst it might be true all it does is give the well I’ll be alright characters in society an excuse to keep acting as normal. Yesterday thousands flocked to beaches in close proximity, some are a complete joke.

 

They certainly flocked here and they will be here again today making us afraid to go out the door

 

As bad as it is I’d say don’t go out the door, eventually it’ll quieten down but the damage they’re doing will be felt for a long time to come.
