There's a good quote in the latest edition of the Spectator about the Govt's handling of Covid 19 ..

"One Downing Street figure is quoted as saying: ‘The good news is that we have built an early warning system. The bad news is that it is going off.’

A very cutting observation from the Tory's own house magazine where the PM was once its editor. That's Fraser Nelson off the new year's honours list.

Apparently non of the models predicted the spike in demand for tests created by the opening of schools etc., strange that because, if you ask any parent in the uk what happens when kids go back to school, they could have predicted it

Lockdown doesn't bloody do anything. It's just a pause.

What needs to happen is TESTING, TESTING, TESTING!...Improvements on result times for TESTING!

Boris Johnson, Matt Handcock and that Dildo needs getter rid off. If we keep these idiots around this country is in deep deep trouble.

Boris Johnson the worst PM ever..He's a disgrace.

There's no mystery to Baroness Harding becoming the interim head of the replacement organisation for PHE and in charge of the track & trace system. She's perfect for the job.

She's head of TalkTalk where she failed to protect private data allowing millions of customer account details to be hacked. She's donated to the Tory party, she's married to a Tory MP and she's now a Tory peer. She has no scientific background but is a management consultant from McKinsey's. She's also a member of the prestigious Jockey Club who gave the go ahead to the Cheltenham Festival which led to a spike in Covid 19 cases. She had no concept that millions of adults and kids returning to work, to schools, to universities would lead to an increase in demand for Covid tests.

She's perfect for running the country's new public health setup with those credentials.

Inevitable really when you think the government panicked to get the economy going
Eat out at half price (then warn of obesity) Schools re opening Parents going back to the office Colleges and Universities returning Pubs and Restraunts opening with zero policing all at more or less the same time what did they expect
More testing means more positive test results (if you can get one ) obviously etc etc
A catalogue of errors from the start
It's not rocket science returning to "normality" should have been gradual stage by stage not all at once
Zero chance of a full lock down mainly thanks to Mr Cummings arrogance

So despite being told on here the rules are simple and we are to blame for causing the spread, it seems the infection rate keeps rising despite us not being able to visit our families inside?

Maybe the restrictions don’t actually work and we need to test and trace everyone infected and make them isolate. You know like every country in the Far East did and have got it down to manageable levels?

You still can't do it to a high enough percentage to stop it. That's the simple issue.

In theory they would need to know everyone you've either been 1m away from or 2m away from for 15 minutes in the last 8 or 9 days. Who genuinely remembers that sort of detail?

The Far East did it through tracking CCTV and accessing bank records. Is anybody in the UK going to agree to that?

The current rules are simple. They're probably not draconian enough to stop the spread either though which is why tighter restrictions are coming.

Why couldn’t we test everyone with symptoms at the height of the pandemic when lockdown was in force. Surely it was easier then to know who you have been with?

Where have you got that they accessed bank records? South Korea literally tested anyone who came to test centres and you got a result on your smart phone in hours. That way you know you have to isolate. we can’t even test over 150000 at this stage of the pandemic. We literally have no hope. It’s been the way since the get go but we decided to give it all to private companies and mates of the government. And we wonder why it failed.

They are experienced countries with SARS pandemic and know what it takes. Taiwan the same. Even poor countries like Thailand have managed to control it.
we are so far behind it’s scary. Maybe we will learn from this for the next outbreak
