    I don't blame you mate..

The government urgently need to grow a pair and say it's the asian community. We know it is..Deal with it!

Why should people in low virus postcode area suffer.

That's one aspect. I'd imagine that theres also a correlation between increases we're seeing now and the large number of mass gatherings, protests and 'street parties' we saw throughout June and early July.

One of my colleagues is muslim. He hasn't been attending prayers for some time now since the two mosques he attends are closed so he has been doing his bit by streaming prayer meetings by one of his regular imans. He has been surprised how little has been spoken about Covid 19 during the streaming and was expecting the imans to encourage people not to meet up or visit their close families,to wear masks and so on. But there has been none of it. Even with Eid ariving, there have been no suggestions on how it can be celebrated without family gatherings. He was expecting family gatherings to go ahead as if Covid 19 wasn't an issue!

He says that the mosques and community leaders have simply not taken the pandemic seriously. He lives in London but fully understands why some northern towns and cities now have localised spikes. (His comment was before the most recent Govt announcement). He is also surprised that parts of London aren't similarly affected. Equally, he's not aware 0f any Govt involvement in encouraging imans and the like to spread the message. An opportunity to spread an important message has been missed and now there's simply silence.

I think there is some evidence of an issue with the Asian community, but it is more than that.

Here, in Trafford, near where I am there has been a growth of 18-25 year olds presenting with the disease.

In the past two or three weeks, when I've been out cycling, I've seen areas such as Chorlton and Didsbury (both pretty much white only socially) absolutely hammered with zero social distancing.

People are not taking it seriously and that is the problem.

What a complete and utter mess. Announcing this only 2 hours before the new lockdown but via twitter and not even from the prime minister but Hancock?

no clear direction. No one sure if you can still go to pub or not? Or go to work as normal? But they don’t want you mixing in other houses? What’s that going to stop?

I can get on the bus with 15 other people and sit in an office with countless others and go sit in a pub (socially distanced) But can’t visit your mum and dad?

it’s shambles after shambles. complete and utter bollocks. It’s more and more to blame the people when all this goes wrong with a second wave which now seems inevitable

The government are in danger of creating a racial tension by not dealing with the problem. I know a few Muslims and they are taking it seriously but like your colleague they informed me that a high percentage are not.

The problem is the government are not doing postcode lockdowns and why should people in say Bingley suffer if no cases when they might be a high number of cases in the city centre?

I fear the worst. I have said this government is shocking and it's proving that it can't handle anything.

However, the world does need to to decide what is the aim. 0 cases? not going to happen. It's at a point of we all need to learn how to live with it.

I don't know..I feel for my Bradford friends. Grim.

    That last line? Come on.
The government haven’t taken it seriously since day dot. Don’t blame the people. That’s what they want you to do.
If we were gonna lockdown we should have bit the bullet for longer and waited for the virus to be none existent in the community but we didn’t. We unlocked because the country was on its arse and now we have created our own second wave

The Govt has certainly passed the Covid parcel onto the people. Once the 'instructions' of dealing with Covid 19 as both the PM and Hancock described them became more nuanced and were then described simply as 'guidance', it became clear who the finger of blame would be pointed at when things went tits up. And it isn't the Govt now.

So we are told on twitter, at just before 10pm, the governments handling goes for too slow to impose something at whim now, they must have a faster bingo machine making decisions.

    It's a complete shambles.

I posted the thread about a holiday earlier, with the state of Bradford it might be best to get yourself away somewhere in the UK.

As for the council, the leader was praising the efforts in the paper just hours before this news, you couldn't make this up.

The people followed it very well all the way through the main lockdown. Towns and cities deserted.

Then the mixed messages came. We got a plan of pubs and restaurants opening in stage 4 yet they opened at stage 2!? and people saw The Cummings situation and then thought balls to this let’s do what we want. And who can blame them?

I agree with your 100% about the Government being a shambles and also the intention to pass the blame onto the people.

However, we, the people, also have to take some personal responsibility - even if that leadership is not coming from the Government. Most people will know someone in the NHS, working in a care home, in a care home etc even if the information from the Government is lacking.

We have to learn to live with virus for the foreseeable future. I'm aghast, honestly, at some of the things I've seen in the last couple of weeks. That does mean taking personal responsibility for one's actions, because we have no chance, realistically of enforcement of activity across the whole country.

However, that needs to be backed up by a Government that is consistent, transparent and honest.

I said to @Bronco@Bronco labour have a hell of a chance of winning the next general election. Boris is a joker and he needs moving a side.

I agree with most of that .. other than one word in your final sentence ...

However, that needs to be backed up led by a Government that is consistent, transparent and honest.

And that leadership is sadly lacking at the moment imo.

I'm not liking some of the undertone of blaming Asians, solely for this issue. It's not the whole answer by a long stretch.
