I don't think you're fully understanding the statistics to be honest.

I think there's an element of that going on at the moment - people who have had a positive test in March would still count as a "Covid death" if they had a heart attack yesterday but the excess death figures smooth all that out anyway.

It might help if people referred to official sources rather than poorly constructed conjecture.
If anything, COVID-19 deaths have been under-recorded in the UK. This would probably explain why:
    1. excess deaths over the last few months have been significantly higher than those allocated just to COVID-19; and
    2. the number of deaths attributed to lung diseases, such as asthma and pneumonia, have been substantially higher than 'normal', suggesting that some of these may actually have been COVID-19, but not recorded as such.
And deaths from the likes of heart attacks and cancers continue to be recorded as such.

Yes, there will be deaths that have been wrongly attributed to COVID-19 (but probably a lot more of COVID-19 deaths that have been missed), but these wrongly attributed deaths do not change the fact that many tens of thousands have died in the UK from this disease.

There are plenty of official sources such as https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/articles/analysisofdeathregistrationsnotinvolvingcoronaviruscovid19englandandwales28december2019to1may2020/technicalannex

However, I'm sure some will still cling on to their conspiracy theories, safe in the knowledge that there is no virus on their flat earth.

The original post is up there with the best Trumpism on Covid 19 ... "The US has the best mortality rate in the world".

I still don't know how to take that statement and whether in his mind "best" equates with the highest!

I think the confusion has come from the government announcing an inquiry into how PHE are recording deaths, the example given being that anyone that ever has tested positive would count as a CV19 death under how PHE were counting, not sure if this has changed.

Yes, the government don't help themselves; far too many inconsistencies. However, people are reading far, far too much into them, often to suit their agenda. We are never going to get a 100% accurate figure, but I think most of us know the rough figure is in the region of 50,000.

Yet a family friend lost both his father and mother within 24 hours his dad was in the BRI with cancer and his mother died with what the paramedics thought was a stroke, she was dead when the paramedics got to her home to allow them to get on with funeral arrangements the death certificate said Covid-19 on both certificates ?.

presumably they were given the choice of quick certification or waiting for the normal process. COVID only needed one person to sign off whereas normally it is two

Yes no autopsy with regards his mother, he dad was near the end with cancer, sounds a little callous but I thought they made the right decision.

It appears Bradford is on the watch list still. The T&A and the Yorkshire post are reporting it.

Not sure if it is down to Eid coming up and getting a message out before then or if cases are really going up.

I could understand the Eid messages, if it was Christmas I would expect the same messages being raised as people want to see families at such times.

Separate households banned from meeting up indoors from midnight tonight in large areas of the North, including Bradford.

Looking at the affected areas, all have large Muslim population. No coincidence it is Eid tomorrow

The Government can go fook themselves. They want to fine me, go ahead but it isn't going to stop me going to visit my family again. Complete bullshit, scaremongering bolllocks.

My wife’s horrible, arsey, jumped up friend was supposed to be coming round tomorrow - I’ve insisted that she cancels and doesn’t break the law.
Her friend with the decent rack is still allowed to come though.

I posted earlier that the government don't want to discriminate and now it's punishing everyone.

I live in Leeds but not a chance I would be doing that lockdown again...No way. Funny how it's Eid and they bring it out.

Tell us the truth...Is the Asian community spreading it and it so deal with it!
