Where did you copy that map from? Hancock mixed up Keighley with Kirklees. Kirklees is where the food factory outbreak was. Pretty much on the border with South Bradford, admittedly.

so are these maps done by postcode or council?

If postcode then the Bradford figure could be down to the Cleckheaton meat packing plant

not been funny but why would he even know of Keighley unless it has been discussed? It will not be listed on any stats because it is part of Bradford

I would come to a similar conclusion. Keighley is hardly tip of the tongue, unless it has been mentioned within meetings elsewhere.

The Cleckheaton figures will be part of Kirklees, I can't confirm that but Bradford clearly doesn't include Skiptom and Settle which are BD23/4.

Thanks. Hancock getting Keighley and Kirklees mixed up sounds plausible to me. Which probably accounts for the spike in Bradford, being as that food factory is literally on Chainbar roundabout.

Why is Keighley on his radar? Why would the figures for the meat factory be part of Bradford when the news reports keep mentioning Kirklees. It can't work both ways. Bradford is having a walk in testing site in centenary square, if anything they are expanding testing specifically in Bradford.

The people working at the factory are likely to live in Bradford.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock claimed there had been a coronavirus outbreak in the wrong part of Yorkshire after getting two areas mixed up.

The Conservative politician "made a mistake" when he said there had been a spike in infections in Keighley.

Mr Hancock had "confused" the area with Kirklees where there was an outbreak at a meat factory earlier this month.

Bradford Council said it highlighted the mistake on social media, "just to calm everyone down a bit".

The Department of Health and Social Care confirmed Mr Hancock meant to reference work that had taken place in Kirklees, rather than Keighley.

Thinking about it the Cleckheaton positives will sit wherever the people tested live rather than where they work.

Why would the health secretary have heard of Keighley? Unless he drinks Tim Taylor’s?

I don’t why he might have heard of Keighley.

The first few seconds of the link in the video, Hancock mentions shutting down a factory in Keighley, but we know the factory was in Kirklees. He got his places mixed up.

Dennis - I have been asked in the past, by a student, if we celebrate July 4th in London. I kid you not. Fair play though, some of the other kids burst out laughing and gave her a hard time.

Both begin with the letter K, the syllables lee and ley are said the same, both are in West Yorkshire. I know people are desperate to punch down on Keighley, but this is stretching it a bit, for me.

I get the confusion and the ease of doing it but what I don’t get is how he has heard of it and why it is in his head.

Normally I’d be straight in at the first opportunity to have a pop at this Government. But I’m not having that there’s a problem in Keighley based on no other evidence than a minister getting his West Yorkshire place names mixed up, which was later corrected. It’s tenuous at best.
