If anyone loses their shit when they see people not social distancing then i'd advise them not to see the social media coverage in Barrow. The Tommy Robinson roadshow in town with dozens of people in a retail car park. I'd say lockdown is as good as over. Everything is just proper car crash at the moment.

    Seriously?
A member of the government inner sanctum has been accused of breaking the law that he helped to establish and you think this shouldn't be investigated?
    You couldn't make it up.

Thing is Durham Police knew that he had travelled up at the time and didn’t even think it was worth talking to him. So what has changed since?

Why would he be in custody? They haven't even started the police investigation yet.

They don't need to, you've already said that " he broke the law", poor bloke not got a leg to stand on now as you've got it covered...
You and I know that this whole shit storm is purely political and you and others have conveniently failed to mention other recent similar incidents by others of a different persuasion (i.e the left)....

No I didn't. I said he's been accused of breaking the law, and the police have been asked to investigate. So, obviously, he wouldn't be in custody before they've even conducted an investigation. And even if they do, he'd be asked to attend for an interview, not banged in a cell.

No, I don't accept that this is 'purely political'. This has angered many Tory voters and MPs. Tory MPs are reporting bulging inboxes of complaints from supporters and party members. Some party members have resigned over Johnson's refusal to sack Cummings. Even the rabid right winger Philip Davies has told constituents that he thinks Cummings should resign. This cuts across all political divides. MPs, Clergy, Scientists, Public Health experts, Doctors, you name it, have been queuing up to point out the blatant hypocrisy of Cummings actions and the government's defence of him.

Thousands of parents around the country have had to look after their kids in isolation whilst themselves suffering from coronavirus, because the government guidance on this was crystal clear - stay at home, self isolate and save lives if you or your immediate family have symptoms. No one told them that they could travel hundreds of miles to sort out their childcare before self-isolating.

Several senior police officers have said that this makes it immeasurably harder for their officers to police the rules, break up unauthorised gatherings etc. Only the most blinkered government cheerleaders can't see why this has angered millions of people and further undermined their already waning credibility.

Not sure Cummings will survive this. Douglas Ross resigns today. Probably won’t be the last.

The financial support from Rishi Sunak has been very good and in the most well targeted, The rest of the government has been slow to react and have never caught up, There is no doubt people have died who should not have, The care home situation is a scandal and some need to resign over it

Maybe. Maybe not. This still has a long way to run. Tory minister resigns in protest this morning. Opposition leaders meeting to discuss how to further pursue this. It's not going away.
The longer Johnson toughs it out the more pathetic he looks. This tells the public two things. Firstly, it's one rule for them and another for the plebs. Secondly, Johnson is terrified of how he will cope with being PM without his right hand man who really runs the show.
Cummings increasingly looks like Jeeves to Johnson's Bertie Wooster. Or as a friend of mine nicely put it, 'Asking Johnson to sack Cummings is like asking Nooky Bear to sack Roger DeCourcy.

This covers it for me...(not my words but could be)
But the disproportionate, whipped-up rage elsewhere was purely political.

Nothing else explains the mob laying siege to his family home, hounding and bullying him in the street, blasting attack messages on a giant screen and sickeningly being congratulated for it by their Labour MP Emily Thornberry.

Who can blame Cummings for seeking help from his family in self-isolation instead of from locals like those?

We all know what this is really about: Destroying the man who swung the EU vote, crushed Corbyn and secured a Tory majority to force Brexit through.
