When i've been unfortunate enough to have to use Leeds Bradford theres never anyone around when you come back, its like a ghost town. You look round for a member of personnel to tell you what to do but in the end you end up just walking straight through. Completely different when i travel to Germany and Poland.

What an absolute mess. This government has made mistake after mistake in handling this and now doesn’t know what to do for the best and is trying to please everyone instead of leading. This will cost more lives.

Spot on so the over 70's(highest death group) and those with underlying health problems can go out as often as they want and catch public transport.

I don't know this pleasing everybody doesn't work and you're right it will cost more lives. Think the government have made a right shambles of all this from the start.

That's because you're a citizen of this country returning home. I'm not sure if you've noticed but non-Nationals going through British airports don't go through the same checkpoints as you do, they have to go through different checkpoints with more stringent checks, that's why when you go to Germany, as a non-National of that country you too receive more stringent checks. ;)

I was reading an article the other day which pretty much said that if you isolate the hospitals and care homes the R rate would drop to almost 0 very quickly. The actual infection rate in the general community is extremely low.

    What on earth is this?

    upload_2020-5-10_22-37-37.png

It’s all just so unclear. What does one who can’t work from home, but uses public transport do? How are people who are going back to work being kept safe? Friends and family? Is schooling still compulsory? Why reception, year 1 and year 6?

It feels a lot like the government are transferring their share of the burden of responsibility onto the people.

Really don't get the reception, year 1 and 6. Might as well be all of Primary school.

I have said all along that this Conservatives can't present. Their delivery is awful hence the mixed messages and the presentation slides a 10 year old could do.

The government have been trying to hide by the science and can't lead. Made a right mess of this.

    They're trying to please everyone.

What I feel they want to say is this:

Get some exercise you fat people because the bigger you are the more danger to you
Get so sunlight because the white pale skin isn't helping and BAME lack vitamin D
Over 70's stay in because if not you're in trouble.
No one should travel and it's 14 days quarantine to get back in.

However, everything is just too nice. On the fence. Clueless!

They are probably restricting the number of years as they are going to make them do some kind of social distancing so will not have 30 kids in a class.

What school has more than 30 kids to a class? That's far too much anyway mate.

I'm not sure if people are being genuinely obtuse or if lockdown has knocked a few brain cells out of people. All I've seen on social media tonight is stupid criticism of Boris' message.

Whilst it didn't have the content that I personally wished for, it was still nonetheless clear and obvious. He gave rough dates for the next phases of easing but all I see is people saying he's winging it. Ffs, it's obvious. IF the R rate, new case and death rates are declining at an acceptable rate by those dates, then those dates will be the ones where measures are eased. If not, they will be pushed back. Not hard to grasp really is it.

I think the alert system is a good idea and helps reiterate where we find ourselves in the clearest and most basic possible way.

The issue around public transport is again obvious. If you can avoid its use when travelling to work, do so, as if you travel to work alone rather than on a busy train, you're lowering the risk of infection. But if you can't, then the service is still there to use.

Schools again, self explanatory. Youngest back in first as they're the least vulnerable.

And then you've got the likes of Robert Peston picking a fight by saying 'keep two metres apart if possible' is confusing, when a five year old could grasp what that message means.

I suspect much of the confusion arises from the change in the message presented by the Prime Minister whilst the message in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland remains the same. There is something very confusing when there is no clarity and cohesion with the principal mesage going out to all. I'm sure that the virus will respect the nations' borders and comply with those messages.

Oh yes, for clarity the message was presented by the Prime Minister of the Disunited Kingdom.

it’s a free hit political move for scotland to distance itself from changes in England. Maybe it will be proved to be the correct call, it seems a no brainer to me why it is being done. Scotland in terms of population and geography is hugely different and prolonged tighter restrictions will no doubt see more of a guarantee that things don’t increase compared to the rUK. That’s obviously a good thing, but don’t you worry down the line it’ll all be used politically to move scotland further away, aided of course by the ‘management’ of this situation by Boris and co. I wish you all the best down there, I really hope there isn’t a significant resurgence.

It's much the same over here, at least now as compared to the beginning of the crisis: a very encouraging trend in the community at large, and a very depressing trend in hospitals and, primarily, nursing homes. Indeed nursing-home deaths make up the overwhelming majority of total deaths here -- 70-80% in Ontario and Quebec.

The politicians at all levels are making the right noises about reforming the nursing-home system; if they actually do this, then the virus will have done some good. A large number of the homes here are in private, for-profit hands, and both residents and staff have suffered as a result. The public care homes have, in general, done better.
