My friend the sporting lawyer has already been asked by a couple of PL clients to advise on what the clubs could do if the season is declared void! That isn't been asked for no reason. I can see there being a huge bun fight between certain clubs, the leagues and at least two big sponsors if the football season is now curtailed.

The EFL are not taking control, they announced all games to go ahead as recently as yesterday. It took the Premier League to make a stance and the EFL as usual just followed that stance. The Premier League's stance was only because their hand was forced via Arsenal, Everton, Leicester, etc.

I lumped them together to be fair, but they're doing more than Bozza and co 'please wash your hands'.

I agree. I suspect the EFL know whose hands are really on the levers of power ...

If the players stay training we might be able to get a preseason type scenario under belts for the remaining games

They have only done it because the clubs can not play this weekend due to isolation

So taking the first shutdown Saturday, tomorrow, as the starting point, if the government's figures are correct, we have a steady rise over 10 to 14 weeks to the peak, followed by a steady decline back to current levels, over the following 10 to 14 weeks; so that's a closedown of 20 to 28 weeks.

So, if the above is correct, the peak will fall between Saturday 23 May and Saturday 20 June, with us being in a position to restart football sometime around Saturday 1 August to Saturday 26 September.

Maybe we could play 2020/21 fixtures on Saturdays with the 2020/21 squad and the remaining 2019/20 fixtures on Tuesday nights with the old squad? That would work well! :)

So possibility of season null and void. All the crap this year forgotten about? Like a bad dream. Start again in august and Macca gets us promotion. Swindon still in league two all Doyle’s goals wiped off record books? Then again Tranmere still in league one does Vaughan stay? Do Bolton stay in league one with point deduction still as last season didn’t happen. Then again do barrow still get promoted as no one goes down. Lots of interesting sagas to solve be interesting few weeks then again could be months.

Depends on when it starts again I suppose. If as suggested it's going to be well into when next season would have started it could be an idea to finish off this season's fixtures then begin the next season after a mini break. Have the next season as a one off when you only play each team once in the league campaign.

I wonder what the PL's paymasters would think of your proposal?

Don't be so bashful. Time is of the essence. Get it sent to them this weekend while it's still in your mind. There's not too much live sport on at the mo so they are probably all twiddling their thumbs waiting for something important to happen. Your proposal could be just what they're all waiting for!

You could always send it anonymously signed 'Concerned of VP'.
