That's a huge generalisation, though definitely a consideration.

I'm not saying parents or a parent don't look after kids but many work and the grand parents/parent play an active part

Keepinf schools open is the right thing to do.

It's going to be easy to tell if it's the right move or not soon enough - there are plenty of directly comparable examples where other nations are doing the exact opposite of what we do, in equally good faith, and based on the say so of medical advice. We won't have to debate the ifs, buts or maybes for much longer, let's put it that way.

But they aren’t mathematically certain. You can’t award a title to someone when they haven’t won it yet as it devalues the competition. Their fans don’t have a problem claiming they won the league on moral grounds as they did in 2014 so they can still tell themselves they won it.

There are also a lot of single parents who have no support system and rely on school to look after their kids so they can work so they can feed and cloth them. Also schools in poor family’s play a vital role in ensuring kids don’t go hungry which would now be lost.

Also while I know kids these days are more likely to stay indoors than in the past are you really going to keep most kids in their own home away from other kids if they are off school. They are going to mix with friends so if they were going to get it they will get it no matter if they are at school or at home

What Johnson was saying in a nutshell is we're roughly 4 weeks behind Italy and a lock down will happen then. Do it now and when this peaks we are in trouble because people won't take it seriously.

Again, we will see, what with Ireland taking the actions Boris didn't.

Ireland haven't been alone in taking action that is supposedly ahead of schedule, so we'll find out if the UK is acting too late, timing it just right, or if nothing is going to help anyway.

    Everyone acted too late.

I said weeks ago that you needed to ban worldwide travel. No one in, no one out for 30 days.

Jamaica at 0 cases didn't ban travel and now have 1 which as increased to 2.

The bigger issue reading between the lines is both Johnson and Trump are not saying anything positive meaning no sign of a cure or vaccine.

The problem I have with complete shut downs is this; firstly how long do they stay shut? what happens when you take the restrictions off? Not even China has fully let the brakes go. Our peak is 12/14 weeks away best estimate, plus high infection rate either side. The science everyone is using is the same, but the timing is different. We will shut schools, public gatherings and maybe complete shut down, but we are trying to get maximum protection for the elderly and vulnerable and to try and minimise the NHS is not overwhelmed.

I know that there is a meeting of the EFL some time this morning. Has that now been announced by the EFL?

    Yes, that was my understanding.

If a specific date is now being speculated upon, I guess somebody has leaked the date. It makes a lot of sense to me.
