Blackpool fan here. Couple of things really, First of all Grayson has pretty much got his week in week out starters sorted I'd say, except probably for a midfield playmaker. What he has said is that he's looking for 'competition' in certain positions and I'd think Scannell falls into that category, ie he sees him as a squad player rather than an automatic starter. If he plays on the left (wing or midfield seems to be a topic of debate ) we've got Sullay Kaikai who's sure to be a starter at left mid or wing, he's yet to figure out his best formation yet I think. On Pritchard I'd hope he does better for you than us. I think he was a Bowyer signing and Grayson's come in and looks to want to offload a few of them as he get's his own players in. James Devitt got signed in the summer by McPhillips and didn't get to play a single game for us before being loaned out by Grayson. While not many went into Bloomfield Rd before that last few games of last season from what I've seen Pritchard didn't really impressed many fans or manage to hold down a start this season so it may be we're swapping one squad player for another, though as I say I never wish any player to fail after they move on (unless they go to preston of course).

He's been crap. I'd started to think injury has taken its toll. But in true city fashion, watch him rip it up in League 1 now.

 

Pretty easy one to work out, Devitt is a League Two player in Grayson's eyes, whereas Scannell is a Championship player.

Allow the man his quaint fantasy, it's saving us money

 

Sometimes its better the devil you know. If the players do a job for GB and get us promoted I don't care if the whole team are ex Blackpool .

 

I'm not sad in the slightest to see him go, massive wages in this division. The fact he looked like a one trick pony as well and it was the right decision to let him go. Have to wait and see what players are brought in on the back of this. Pritchard if true just smacks of taking whatever Blackpool didn't want just to make a deal. Need a Cullen/O'Brien type player desperately. Could offer Akpan, Anderson and Devine as a buy one get two free.

Scannell is up there with McClean as one of the worst most overated/overpaid signings. Looked completely disinterested from the out set. Seems to be living on a few past glories.
We've signed some shiiiitee in the last couple of year's. p!$$ed some right wages up the wall in Scannell/Wright/Akpan/Riley/Reeves et al

 

Big Scanz had our pants down really massive wage then was out nearly all last season then this season every week my thoughts are this is the game Seans going to light this league up with his ability. As has been posted I was waiting for a level of ability from him that wasn't coming, no real hard feelings but he's been very underwhelming.

 

Not fussed about Scannell. Can’t beat a man, can’t cross. Every full back he’s come up against since he’s been here has had him in their back pocket.

A good deal to save on his apparent high wages and bring in someone else.

 

To be fair to Scannell he can't be blamed for last seasons debacle as he was out injured for most the season, but from what I've seen in the time that he has played for us he hasn't been particularly impressive, especially when considering that he is one of our high earners.

Give me a Kyel Reid or a Mark Marshall over Scannell anyday, their end product was questionable but at least they could regularly go past defenders.

 

Simon Parker basically denied it was happening as he wanted the exclusive scoop, until people tweeted those pics to him of scannell holding the shirt. Breaking news my arse Parker

 

Blackpool will soon realise Scannell ain't nowhere near the player he once was.
Since joining City he's hardly featured for us and I can not remember the last time he finished 90 plus minutes without blowing out of his arse.
Good Luck to him but in my opinion no great loss.
One small saving grace, the club don't have to buy multi packs of cotton wool any longer to wrap him up in.

 

Seen quite a few fans stating hiw underwhelming this signing is.

On paper Scannell is undoubtedly the better player. Unfortunately, on grass, Scannell has been a massive let down, never looked 100% fit, and seems to have lost a lot of pace, he had, when playing for Palace and Huddersfield.

As for Pritchard, he had a very good record in the National League, and I see that he played about 40 games for Blackpool, scoring 6, not bad for a winger in his first season as a professional. Maybe Bowyer sees a gem, that can improve even further. I will trust him on this one, and look forward to seeing him in action

Pritchard must surely turn out better than Scannells stat of 1 goal and 1 assist in his time here

 

Obviously needs replacing but for someone brought in supposedly as a marquee league 1 signing, he's been a big disappointment. Walking sick note with hardly any end product. Bet we could pay 2 wages for what he's on

 

Did you notice that as well. Me and my lad use to joke about a 'Scannell' header. The one where he jumps but has no intention of actually getting anywhere near winning the header.

 

Don't be disappointed, its the best move for all concerned. We get rid of arguably our highest paid played who contributed little on game day, Scannell gets a move out of the god forsaken khazi league, we now get the chance to bring a player in who will actively contribute on far less wages than Scannell. Everyones a winner.

 

Blackpool are taking a risk, with them being so close to the ocean... I hope there isn't any jet ski hire places around.

 

He is for what he does

 

He was an absolutely horrendous signing from both a financial and playing ability point of view
If you add the transfer fee to his wages and divide by the number of games he played he has proved another very costly error.
His performances for us makes his ability questionable at best.
The unneccesary headbut in the Sunderland game for which he got red carded also throws into question his temprement
All in all no tears from me he has gone but it is essential we replace him with some much needed pace

 

Now we can all go nuts about not having a right sided winger and playing 433
