CONFIRMED Greg Abbott leaving

What on Earth are we doing this for? Sacking him or at least asking him to leave it just silly.... ask @borderlescott

Afterall, “all we'd save is the national insurance contributions the club pays on ‘his’ wages. Why should ‘Abbott’ otherwise write off money ‘he is’ owed”?

You've missed my point although it was not made that clearly. I was making something up to show how anyone can write something that could appear plausible. So, yer, was probably bollocks. Wasn't claiming it to be true!

 

Lets hope the next head of recruitment is the man responcable for getting them to perform...David Hopkin.

Crazy really.A City stalwart from the past gets a job which is then undermined by someone else so his input is not really his, but when it proves a failure he's at fault.

I wonder how many people outside football,have accepted a job but have been unable to do it due to senior interference,but are then sacked for not being good enough? You can't understand the reasoning but if your job title says "Head of recruitment" but someone else decides,how can it be your fault?

Easy for others to say he should resign,does he have a mortgage to pay and family to support? No problem,for us eh?

Having said all that,Hopkin lives and dies on results so he should bring his own backroom staff in so he can be judged fairly.That means Greg has to go.Best wishes to him for his health and career.

Quite simple really. If you’re stopped from doing your job then you leave. It’s been pretty obvious from the Wembley defeat onwards, that the recruitment has been dictated to by Rahic. Greg has had ample opportunity to leave, including during the terrible disease that is cancer. He’s sacrificed his reputation for a man who probably won’t give him a second thought 12 months from now.

 

so, having a close friend - i was actually best man at his wedding last year, who works in player recruitment and scouting, who has been involved in players going to leeds, norwich, brentford, sheff utd, rotherham and barnsley within the last 3 transfer windows he was telling me an interesting conversation he had with an ex-player regarding GA. my friend was trying to contact GA about some players that he works with to try and bring them / have city take them on trial during the summer with a view to signing for this season. after GA not answering his phone over a period of about 3-4 weeks and not replying to any phone calls or messages, he eventually gave up and they went elsewhere. when he spoke to an ex-player of ours he said it was known that abbott doesn't like bringing players to the club that he hasn't sourced initially and wouldn't take any players that our ex-player recommended either.

 

What period of the Summer was this?

 

not 100% sure but he was talking to me about it from july onwards. he also worked with one of the final three candidates for the coaching job in the summer. he's been trying to contact the club since september with out of contract players to have a look at but no answer on that front either until the last couple of weeks.

 

Don’t dispute that but not up to the job. On recruitment or coaching. Records prove that.

Nothing else matters. We are not a charity and have to stay in this league

 

Abbott isnt a player.

We need to freshen up the off-field staff. New coaches could get more out of the collective group of players.

What I said about NI remains valid. No players will be getting paid up while we have so many injuries.

 

I mean that Summer period sounds awfully close to when he'd have been in hospital.

I'm not disputing the lack of response, or even the reason why, but when you said Summer I did think hmmm... The guy was not well. Some texts about kids probably was t a priority.

 

If all that's true, it explains why Edin likes him so much. Sounds just as stubborn and 'my way or the highway' as he is.
