Thanks. It worked for Aberdeen. It just pains me to think that we might have looked much better this season if we had played O'Connor in the position he probably favours, with Mcgowan and then later Paudie, to partner NKP behind him. Some proper battling defensive midfield cover and a little more aerial ability in the team would probably have seen us concede fewer goals and maybe nick an odd extra one from corners and free kicks. I know A O'C has been very unpopular and I have not been a fan myself but wouldn't most midfielders struggle and be very frustrated if asked to play centre back with a defensively weak midfield left in front of them? He must be even more frustrated when he has scored 6 goals. He's probably the only player in the team that has reached a respectable tally for his position.

It does fit in with numerous tactical errors this season and last.

Pineapple Salesman - Thanks for that. That does not help my theory that we should be playing him in front of the centre backs, though I bet his workload involved much more distribution and less defending in a team that finished second. It still sounds like he was moved to midfield to park the bus for the games where Aberdeen expected more pressure from better opponents. Should we have used that as a tactic for most of our games?

I honestly don't know which tactics we should have used this season. Our managers have tried different tactics with these players and it hasn't worked. I'd put the blame on this down to one of our previous chairmen bringing in players himself when we didn't even have a manager in place. An actual manager might have known how to put a team together rather than just throwing money at some individuals who sounded good and hoping other random youth players would turn into the next Lionel Messi and the next Cristiano Ronaldo.
