Competitive Budget.

I don't buy the idea that Paynes wage left us skint. After Payne we brought in Anderson, Clarke, O'Connor, Woods and Butterfield, and that is most likely at least £6k a week between them. You can easily get a competent centre back and winger at least for that money. Hopkin sadly didn't have the contacts to find any players who were available or he just didn't know what he was doing. If Bowyer was in charge in January I bet we would've got what we needed.

 

Financially, you may be right. But i'll be honest - if Rupp wasn't propping up the finances, we'd already be buggered. Its all well and good saying 'we have to go straight up', but its not realistic. We're in a huge mess. We'd need a turnover of 15 players and to get the vast majority of those new players right. We'd need to bring in several new leaders and have them instantly start putting the right values into place on the training and playing pitch. When has that ever happened? We need a complete rebuild and that takes time to do it well.

Our undoing was our near promotion form in December that lulled everyone into a false sense of security. We have scored 43 goals so far this season and 19 nearly half were scored in December

 

Maybe both Scannell & Payne may have come to us because of Micheal Collins being our new coach rather than Edin's involvement.

 

The Huddersfield signings were due to Collins friendship with the Huddersfield Chairman Wright was brought in because Collins knew him from being in the same side

Just how did fans mess up, by continually giving their support ?.

 

Rupp is to blame for not keeping a close eye on Edin.

Rhodes ( + Lawn) are to blame for giving the club to Edin.

Collins was a joke manager appointed by Edin.

Hopkin was brought in too late by Edin and the players, most of who were recruited by Edin, are shite.

Personally I think Abbott got away with things too lightly but nearly all of our issues come down to one man.

 

Its not excuses Fordy, its reality. A club of 'our size' shouldn't even be in League 2. So, all things being equal, then yes Promotion would have to be the aim. But you have to look at it in context.

If we don't need 15 players, how many do we need and which players would you be retaining to form the base of our 'promotion squad'?

To my mind, the only players we have who're worth keeping around are Caddis, Mellor, Ball (if we can keep him), possibly Doyle, O'Donnell and Akpan - though I'm not thrilled by the idea of any of them. We could keep Devine, Wood, Colville and Goldthorp. The backup keepers - Whatever. That's 10-12 players worth keeping. And we'd need a squad of ~25.

You're massively underestimating the size of the task and the reality we face.

 

Someone tweeted earlier this week that they were told by a reliable source at the club that Wright was brought in by Rahic, solely on the basis of his large following on social media. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that were true.

 

I don't know about you lot ? but a club our size sinking into the FL Pub League should have the size of budget to take all of the best players at that level. I am not having it if by October we are looking up that table at the likes of Forrest Green; Solihull Moors; maybe Orient or Wrexham, out of sight at the top ! ?. If Bowyers around and Rhodes my demand is clear no messing about; we can lose 4 games and win the rest. We need to be on course for smashing that Pub League out of sight 100 goals 100 points otherwise I don't expect either them to be hanging around !.

 

There were several posting concerns about the way Edin was running our club, Bermonsey Bantam stopped posting because of the stick he was getting being called out because he didn't/wouldn't divulge his source.
Ricky posted many times, Mick Hunt posted as did Goose, Faithful Bantam and myself, it was hardly a secret what was going on, just the some posters didn't like being told the truth.
As of yet there has been little information with regards just what has happend at the club under Rahics time, plenty saying he spent funds wrongly, I believe if and when things come out
misappropriation of funds might be the least of Rahics worries.

 

Collins said he brought him in because he knew him from playing with him at Scunthorpe I think

 

Wright's signing was announced at the end of May. Collins wasn't appointed until mid June.

 

We could keep them players but all 4 players have played maybe 30 games between them and they don't look like the type of player to get you out of League 2. No chance of keeping Ball and it wouldn't surprise me if players like Doyle, Akpan and possibly Caddis would want to drop down a division.

The task, like you say, is huge. The rebuilding job that needs doing is the biggest one since Parky joined. If we replicated the type of players that he brought in to get us out of League 2 then we have a chance.
