Unfortunately Mansfield are in exceptional form with 1 win in 6, it's form like that that makes them really hard to beat - like Colchester.

This a very good point that some seem to overlook. Always worth taking time to acknowledge things like body language and crowd reaction, it can tell you a lot of things. Watch how we celebrate the two goals, you'd think it was a pre season friendly at Park Ave. Listen to the reaction from opposition fans on vlogs and forums, one mentioned Valley Parade was tense and the place had a nervousness about it. Why? Everyone keeps telling us we are handily placed, one defeat in a while, yet the players and the crowd tell a different picture. How the hell have we got to a position where the players in some cases look petrified to try anything such as a forward pass when we are a point or two away from the autos? 2-0 at home and they like rabbits in the headlights. Little to no communication between the players, they look unhappy.

 

Colchester away always brings back the horrible memory of December 1961 when we lost 9-1. The same 11 City players had beaten them 4-1 four days earlier. Just think what a meltdown that would have caused had it occurred these days.

 

Right now, I'd take dull and boring if it means we take something from the game.

Have to say, struggling to find the positives to last few times I’ve seen him. Cooke was so effective in that role for a period earlier this season. Like to see him back in there and Reeves dropped

 

Colchester played some neat football but never looked like scoring. We looked far better playing a back four rather than a five although a now goalless in three Doyle is a concern. Connolly no end product at all is also a worry. Thought Taylor had a decent enough game as did McCartan but in truth it was a poor game of football with virtually nothing created by either side. Important not to let Colchester win though.

 

He's losing the players in my view. I thought the same regarding body language on saturday, they look thoroughly pissed off and frustrated.

 

That involves being in the opposition penalty area, it's not a dilemma Gary has on his mind.

 

Doubt it won't be long before we are saying "well, we are only 10 points behind a playoff place but we have a game in hand"...!!
