This nutter did a Tuesday night at Colchester about 5 years ago, we lost 2-0(Brad Jones in goal)...turned out to be a bit of a watershed for Parky (remember plenty calling for his head afterwards...19th in League), but we then got Kyle Reid back on loan and made the play offs!...so there is hope.

Keep forgetting he's suspended. In that case it would have to be Doyle. He was taking them for Swindon with a decent success rate. Wouldn't fancy anyone else in the side to take one with the confidence levels of the team at the moment.

Look of doom on the players faces you'd think we were 5th from bottom.

Colchester away always brings back the horrible memory of December 1961 when we lost 9-1. The same 11 City players had beaten them 4-1 four days earlier. Just think what a meltdown that would have caused had it occurred these days.

Or they are playing for a Manager they don't believe in.

I believe we shipped 18 goals in three games many years ago Stockport, Rochdale away can't remember the home game the reaction on here would have been some read.

'We need to tighten up again'

Well that's it, 10-0-0 formation tomorrow then, backs to the walls performance incoming. Bet they've been working all day on defensive shape and how to stop colchester today too.

That involves being in the opposition penalty area, it's not a dilemma Gary has on his mind.

In the 65-66 season we lost 7-1 at Crewe 7-1 at home to Stockport and a few weeks later lost 5-1 at Rochdale. It makes this seasons performances very acceptable !!

Didn't we play Stockport County on the Friday night and they had Len White the ex Newcastle centre forward in the team that night, my old mucker @Bantam-in-Greece@Bantam-in-Greece will know.
I agree some of the present "snowflakes" would have jacked it in following the lads.

I thought the Stockport game was a Saturday afternoon match. Our goalkeeper for those games was Malcolm White . His career with City lasted for 9 games and he let in 31 goals - never to be seen again.

You could be correct, the reason I thought it was a Friday night was they used to play Friday nights not to clash with United or City on a Saturday.

This doesn't look promising. Colchester 13 games unbeaten, they have a better goal difference, our defence seems to have suddenly started leaking goals, Vaughan is suspended, Donaldson isn't match fit, Devitt presumably still isn't ready to start, we haven't won away in god knows how long, so we are relying on Doyle and potentially Pritchard to produce some magic between them. A 1-1 draw seems the best case scenario unfortunately.

You are correct Stockport did play their home matches on a Friday night but the 1-7 match was at Valley Parade.

He’s not wrong to be fair. Earlier in the season we were all celebrating how resilient and strong we were at not conceding. Recently we’ve conceded some incredibly weak goals.

We need to be, as he says, tough to break down. This doesn’t mean it has to be backs to the wall. We can take the game to Colchester and play from the front - unfortunately experience so far this season tells us it won’t be this way, but it would be very nice to be surprised!

My memory is worse than I thought, so what was that sequence then ?.
    There you go,
18 Sep 1965 Bradford City v Stockport County L 1-7 League Division Four
    Score 7-1 to Stockport County
    Competition League Division Four
    Attendance 3,308
It started at Crewe 7 - 1 on the 15th Sept then Stockport on 18th Sept, then away to Darlington 3 - 0, the 5 - 1 was a couple of weeks later against Rochdale, and the "Pista Resistance" getting whacked 5 - 1 at Park Avenue towards the end of that season.
