Coaching staff

I was one of them, I've posted my thoughts above. At the time I had no idea that we wouldn't appoint a new number two and neither did you!

 

To be fair with the players coming in this is a decision i didn’t see coming. I trust Bowyer to have things in hand but i’m surprised we aren’t employing a new assistant.

 

Of course you can ask the question.

We all know in football that you let a manager bring in his own backroom staff. Would you agree @wetherbywhaler?

I'm sure Drury is a good coach but like many of last season Wright, O'Connor etc he is seen as let down by the fans.

Worried by this. Let Bowyer have the team he wants.

 

We have to make cuts after the deficit last season whilst also trying to bounce back at the first attempt.

If you sack Drury & then bring in someone else. That's quite a large amount of money gone from Bowyer's spending.

Give it a year or so down the line, you'll probably see GB bring his own staff in. At the moment its getting the club back on track financially whilst trying to stabilize the club on the field too.

 

Maybe he has been given the choice back room or players

 

Nobody is suggesting we sack Drury, people are suggesting we bring in extra coaches.

 

I bet most of us without our heads in the sand had a fair idea the day we released Andy Todd.

 

I'll be different to the general consensus and say I'm quite happy about this. Never been a fan of specialist coaches for the sake of it. We're not playing at a standard where small technical adjustments are likely to make much of a difference. The players will have to take greater responsibility for themselves which is good imo. Most importantly apart from the money saving there will be clarity. The trouble with assistant and specialist coaches is that they all have an opinion. Remember Collins Drury Abbott and Rahic et al all wanting their say/input and the resulting mess they made of it. You can tell Bowyers comfortable working this way and it's reassuring that he has the self confidence to do it. As someone that was fairly critical of Bowyer at the back-end of last season I've been quietly impressed so far this summer.

 

WE can't afford it unless you'd like the playing budget to be cut? We already have a 30 man squad which still requires 3 or 4 midfielders etc

 

Recruitment is nothing to do with the coaches?

 

Yes, I'd like to see some of the fat trimmed from ther playing budget. I'd already stated that a couple of posts ago?

 

Fair shout. A twist on the coaching staff question that should be asked at the fans forum imo.

 

That's what Rahic said when he did most of it without coaches in place. Thankfully it's a bit different this time around.

 

Really? The club lied through it's back teeth when ER was in control. The statement when Todd left was it wasn't down to cost, so why would you think we wouldn't bring a new assistant?

 

How is it different?

I'm really not getting the connection between signing players and having a coaching team?

 

Nope me either RT, like I've posted above especially after the club said Todd didn't leave because of a cost cutting exercise.

 

It may be that, Bowyer was asked and he stated he'd rather put the money on to the field, and he was happy with what he had, ?? everyone seems to think he had no say in this ??
