Coaching staff

Poor decision, and I am sure Bowyer is not happy about that. As BoingBoing aludes to, i would rather bring in an assistant of Bowyer's choice, rather than have offered contracts to Devine and Colville if its a case of finances.

First bit of negative news from City this summer

 

Yes it is, I was hoping he would be able to get his own assistant in. However, if Bowyer has put it behind him and get on with it, there is no point in us stressing over it, it is what it is.

 

Totally ridiculous and shambolic not to let Bowyer have his own man but instead he's stuck with that joker Drury. After all the positivity about signings this is a really really poor move.

 

In todays T and A.

 

So we will just have two full time coaches/managers and a part time goalkeeper coach. I really hope we don’t have a reserve team this year then

 

Very pleased with signings but this is worrying. Once again, just that bit of unprofessionalism that costs us. Hope we keep that squad in optimal fitness.

 

Not good at all to me, I don't want Drury as an assistant and I'm not even sure Bowyer does. Very poor doo, having to cut our cloth accordingly by not being able to afford a preferred number 2?

 

Bowyer is nobodys fool he's says "We have to cut our cloth accordingly following relegation. I fully understand that. At this stage we are going with what we have got." to me the telling part is highlighted, Drury is his number 2 in everything but name, he is going to address the keeper coach situation, performance coach Ben Nicholson will still be involved.
Of course he would like a full backroom staff be he realises what the situation is and for now he's OK with it.

 

Is Nicholson even still here? His social media would suggest otherwise plus he hardly did a great job with fitness last season did he.

 

Acording to todays T&A article he is : Assistant coach Martin Drury, who stepped up to the role last season when Michael Collins was appointed at the helm, remains on board along with performance coach Ben Nicholson.

 

Where is he?

 

It's embarrassing by the club that Bowyer hasn't brought in his own team.

Drury needs not to be part of the 1st team set up.

 

They quoted the "fitness coach" as Ben Nicholson, i thought reports on here were he had left too

 

Phil Smart is still under contract at Shrewsbury not sure if he's still coming to Bradford after their recent backroom re shuffle but he was linked with a move and knows our new chief scout from his Walsall days.

 

That is embarrassing by the club.

So Bowyer has come in and hasn't even brought in his own team?

Plus we're left with a negative from last season in Drury.

Strong wording Fordy but I agree with you for a change mate!

 

If it's true then it's crazy and undermines everything we're trying to do with the squad. What's the point of a large playing budget if we then can't even afford the coaches to train them. Like an earlier poster suggested, we should either cut back on some of the padding in the squad or sign one less big earner.

 

Not ideal because it increases the work load of Bowyer but he seems to understand the situation. Cutting the cloth accordingly is a neccesity. But it doesn’t seem to be holding back our played recruitment

 

We also had this debate a couple of weeks ago when certain posters were playing it down and proclaiming that there's 2 weeks left until preseason so we should just wait and see.

I wonder if they still feel the same in their claret and amber shaped bubble.
