It's very apparent from McCall's remarks that he doesn't want to verbally slate Guthrie's performance in the media but I suspect a chat is imminent behind closed doors.
We certainly have no room on the pitch for passengers, not with this present squad that's for sure.

I think Kai Bruenker had more influence on the games he played in than Guthrie has in his.

This made me chuckle but then worryingly, it also started me thinking. Certainly there is no comparison in the effort department and if I was a CB, which one of them would I prefer to have running at me?

 

I feel he had more nuisance value. For his faults, Kurtis ain't at the level of Kai.

 

Kai was all effort with knack all to show for it, Guthrie is a better player but is a different type of player. Him and Novak don't complement each other at all.

 

Which L2 always is. I'm always surprised that fans state this obvious

 

To be honest, we're slating Guthrie for his lack of effort, but really, we should also be slating McCall and the board for their lack of effort getting a replacement for him. Simple fact is - Guthrie's having a bad game, who do we sub him with to add something extra - Donaldson? Umm. No

Novak doing well so far, but makes me shudder if he picks up an injury. Surely someone has to be brought in, even if its an impact sub from the bench.

 

The best time to judge the club would be after the window closes and let's see who we have signed. SM has repeatedly said they have made moves for players and the host club has delayed the process.

Agree, I'd rather Stuart wait for who he wants than simply sign someone who nobody wants. 43 games to go(hopefully)

Impressed with that. In the circumstances he could have resorted to excuses but didn't. Wish we had a striker as good as he was.

 

Or maybe he's chosen unrealistic targets? Would you rather he wait for Hiwula (for example) only for it not to happen, leaving us without a new striker? Must be something wrong, if ALL the players he's wanting to sign, aren't available.

 

You may be right, I dunno. I think Stuart will make sure he has options. I would have thought a 1st div player under contract was unrealistic but we signed one last week.

 

I still ,really dont know what i think about the squad or how the season might pan out. We could have quite easily won all three games but for a very marginal offside against Colchester and 1 minute less extra time at FGR.
All three teams unbeaten if i am correct , until our victory on saturday. We could have won the game by more but for the woodwork, but could also have drawn.
This is an odd season and i think it will carry on that way until it concludes, which i hope it does. We just need to stay around the top end and stay clear of injuries and suspensions.
This season truly is a lottery

 

I’m not sure Guthrie is lacking in effort. I think he’s just sh*t.
