Aye. I think people have drastically underestimated how difficult it is to get match fit at professional level. Ten games in and it’s not bad I suppose.

 

Even if we were 6 points clear at the top of the table I bet you still wouldn't be happy.

 

He definitely wouldnt, as he would say we should be 9 points clear.

It was a handball unfortunately. Can see clearly on the replay Donaldsons arm touches ball before it went over the line.

Really pleasing attacking display in which we looked dangerous. Connolly ran them ragged.

 

Agree although Cooke had a very good game I'm not sure he's 100% yet.

 

BRE....why did fans clap him after a ridiculous red card challenge which could've cost us the game.

Clap a player deservedly sent off and now misses 3 games.

Everyone has said it, but Connolly today was fantastic. How pleasing was it having a winger who could beat a man, time after time, and fire a ball across. Their LB had a mare, both of them, Connolly then Ismael - I bet he wish the ground would just swallow him!
Cooke looked very calm in the middle, bringing better out of Palmer.
Wood had a strong game, always liked him in a city shirt, he's coming to his fore now.
BRE... WTF?! simple as that, you just knew what was gonna happen when that ball popped away from him.
Vaughan had a quiet game.
Donaldson ran the line well, held up a fair few balls against 2 physical centre halves, his best game although he still can't seem to finish!

 

Out of interest, anyone know what Pressley had to say? He's usually good for a laugh!

Matters not. Studs up red card even though the contact is ball first. As Rogered said, if it had been the other way round, we would have expected and got a red.

 

He wasn’t even the best winger.

 

Connor Wood looked good today, in all but one phase of play when he was out of position inexplicably from a dead ball.

Bowyer has used him as the last line of defence several games in a row now, which worried me initially, but not anymore.

Perhaps his improvement is partly down to better management - so kudos Gary for turning a wing back playing at full back into an actual defender focussed on defending.

 

I think as long as retains the width in tougher away fixtures the an extra man in midfield can work. It's when we look narrow that we become completely ineffective. Obviously that only means one up front but I'd have no doubts that both Vaughan and Donaldson could operate well in that role.

 

I think the desperation for 4-4-2 was based around getting width into the side. As long as Bowyer sticks with that it then I don't think he'd face much scrutiny for playing a slightly more conservative 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 away from home, especially when we come up against the likes of Swindon and Exeter.

 

Is it reckless, out of control or overly aggressive? Those are the words they use these days. If it was the other way around we would have been screaming for him to be off...like we did for their players second yellow...

 

I never actually knew that the 4th official could overrule the linesman and referee on a decision like that.

How on earth he had a better view than the linesman and ref is anybody's guess. I suspect it was just a gut instinct in reaction to the Carlisle players appeals

 

I think it’s all about aggressiveness and being in control. The fact he may have got the ball isn’t a valid excuse nowadays.

 

Aggressive yes but I don't think it was out of control. It was perfectly timed and he only went in with one foot. At first I thought he'd gone in two footed but the challenge was nothing like that at all. Surely for a red it's got to be either high, late or two footed? They can't just start giving reds for every aggressive sliding challenge.
