Yeah but a new owner usually spells the end for the current manager.
New owners want their own man. MH was a victim of that at Man City.
What we need right now is stability. We've had far too many seasons of players coming and going coupled with a revolving door of managers.
We need stability in terms of the owner, the CEO, the manager and our back room staff. That way we can implement a plan and stick to it. Not the continual rip it up and start again mentality we've had for the last few years.
The re-brand should help with that. Part of our brand is the style of football we play. For as long as I can remember our 'brand' of football has been a passing game. Its what fans want and like. By having a clear brand identity you allow that to dictate who you employ to implement our brand.
Recent encumbents in the managerial hot seat have been seriously at odds with our 'brand' because the club lost sight of what our brand really was. That was largely down to Rahic who systematically set about dismantling our club brand in favour of his megalomaniac brand.
MH fits our brand because he wants to play the game the way we like to see it played.
The players we recruit and the youngsters we bring through the academy need to fit the brand first and foremost.

This seasons aim is to go up. Id imagine that Hughes has his eyes on the title. The manager is good enough. The squad is both big enough an good enough to get promoted. You don’t bring in players from the SPL, League 1 an Championship just to consolidate in League Two. There’s 4 promotion spots up for grabs. I find it hard to believe that there are 4 other teams in League Two that are miles ahead of us and are in better positions to get promoted than ourselves

I agree Fordy but we are in a better position than we ever have been pre-season for a long time....... We will win more than we lose methinks and we have goals all over /good midfield and a good keeper. We will also get people to join us in Jan if we are doing okay or well.....all very positive.. I like it

Have the 16 that voted "no" changed their minds after zero deaths and not even the odd fainting fit during the game?

I just got a £7.50 refund. I presume it’s because of the technical difficulties during the first half streaming. Impressed. Can’t recall getting any refunds from City when the game buffers most of the time.

If the two clubs are concerned of the heat, push back 24 hours, honouring refunds as appropriate

I think its a bit OTT if we cancel this tbh.

just exercise some common sense. It’s a warm day. As Keefly said, ensure we have regular water breaks.

its an evening kick off and it will be cooler then.

Matches across the globe take place in warmer temperatures, and they’d laugh at the prospect of us considering calling our games off.

I think racing is a bit different Dave, the jockeys dehydrate themselves to get down to their weights and the horses are big creatures who don’t have the option of taking it easy and having a break.

Hopefully Sparky plays two different teams in each half. With water breaks mid-half there’s absolutely no reason why this game shouldn’t take place.

Just get a few tables of Harrogate Spring water lined up to appease any concerned fans. There will be parts of the stands in the shade too - not sure which as its been ages since a Summer night game - but the club will know how the sun rises and sets.

I was in Bologna from last Tuesday until yesterday morning. Afternoon temperatures were 35-37° each day. It certainly felt too hot to do anything much except sit in the shade and eat, drink and read. There was precious little sign of any strenuous activity in the afternoons. Shops all shut from 1 until 5 and no roadworks, building work etc going on. They clearly adapt their lifestyle to accommodate regular hot weather.

there's a lot of nonsense in this thread. high temperatures in Spain and Corfu and Turkey and any other hot country is not the same as high temperatures in the United Kingdom

What's air conditioning to do with a football game played outside?

    Excuse me:joy:

I’ve travelled the world and been to far hotter than here even in a heat wave and the air conditioned buildings near by made no difference, they are designed to keep cool air in a building not blow it around a city. FYI I used to work in Shipley in an air conditioned building so maybe they’ll turn it on for the game and blow it down the valley to cool the players down…

The only person there’s no helping is you, I tried to keep it civil but you kept digging and talking more shit.

Dearie me. It's going to be a bit hot for a couple of days. We'll all be here on Wednesday. The game will go ahead or it won't. In a week no one will remember. Other issues will be open for discussion. Let's just have a bit of realism. This is tedious.

How hot was it when the lads were over in Spain?
They trained in the heat and they've been back here over a week in the heat, so I'd say they're pretty much acclimatised to the weather conditions.
I'm fairly sure most of the pitch at VP will be in shade by 7pm so it will at least be slightly cooler than playing in direct sunshine.

And bring on fitness levels, why do we think proactive teams go to sunny climates for training?
