I like the look of Harratt. Mobile, good technique and awareness of what's around him. I think he could be a big player for us this season.

Thought it was a very tidy display, where we were on top for large spells of the match. Some slick play. Halliday and Critchlow had great games, also Walker was very combative. For a friendly it was played with a lot of endeavour.

Give it 5 years and bottled water will be a thing of the past. It was dying a slow death but covid and wars and all the other shit took priority and one use plastics got pushed down the list.
We will look back in 10 years and we will all think can you believe we paid money for plastic bottled water. Kinda like smoking on buses and in cinema etc.Damo, EdwinB, Tony Wilkinson and 2 others like this. -

Beauty that!
Really enjoyed it, entertaining game.
Looked super organised, everybody knew their role, we pressed high and pressed well - think we had a threat coming from a lot of different positions and situations.
Oliver won every header when he came on, Cook put in a good and effective shift before that; Angol didn't quite perform to expectations, but it didn't matter. Osadebe put in a lot of tackles and took his goal well. Walker was a real threat, though I thought he was a pillock for getting booked in a friendly.
Defensively good; Critchlow really impressed me, his passing was good (which I expected) but his defensive work was way better than the impression that I'd got. Totally prepared to eat crow on him, hope he gets the game time he needs.
Thought the keeper would have been sent off in a league game, and to be honest, didn't look as good as he has done, but kept a clean sheet.

Done well and looked sharp in the friendlies, scored a couple of goals yet people want him out at the first opportunity?
If we get a decent offer then fine but at the moment there's absolutely nothing to say Cook doesn't start the season and play an important part in that group of 3 or 4 strikers.Doodle, Wakefield Bantam, Bronco and 2 others like this. -

Next season teams will be hoping to leave VP with at least a draw for sure. Expect lots of time wasting and gamesmanship/disruptive actions from oppo teams.
I have seen enough of an improvement since MH took over that I feel we are going to have a great season. You cannot compare last seasons squad with this seasons-chalk and cheese.
Move on mate and enjoy what happens this season.

I think like Gilliead, though, that just because Adams relied solely on Cook as the spearhead of his attack, Hughes could easily find another role for Andy.
Cook in a front two would be the most logical way for Andy to establish himself in the team; but I can also see him pressing Angol for a starting berth in a front three.
What I did notice at Sunderland is how simple the strategy became when Oliver came on - Oliver would win headers and SPECIFICALLY look for Angol. There's no reason Cook couldn't do that role. There will be plenty of times when clogging in to Oliver becomes untenable, and there's going to be times when Angol isn't playing well or isn't fit.
We'd be really stupid to let Cook leave at this point, IMO, look at last season with the sheer lack of options for a centre forward - it was literally Cook or nowt, even when Cook was looking unfit/lacking sharpness/off form.
We really want to flog Vadaine to death? Not for me, and I'm certain Hughes will give Cook plenty of game time as he rotates his forwards.Wakefield Bantam, Stoneski, bantamdave41 and 2 others like this. -
