You seem to imply that sacking Bowyer and bringing back McCall would guarantee promotion. Have you not forgotten that McCall had 2 spells as manager, 4 or 5 seasons in charge, and not one promotion. McCall failed in his last managerial job at Scunny.

Cannot get my head around why bringing him back will improve us.

Leave Bowyer in charge for me, no hesitation

I just can't fathom some. Bring Doyle back, play more exciting football, open the purse strings Rupp, bring McCall back et al.

Are some not realising this utopian concept of FOURTH DIVISION football may not achievable in the full entirety and that comprimise will be needed.

Over the last two seasons, I can tell you I was a rite miserable sod, damning of the football, the management and particularly that Twit Rahic. The self destruct button had been hit and the club was in bloody freefall, little stewardship and the toxicity at VP, was pungent. Anybody who frequents this board and knows me will very much agree!!!

That era is now in a period of recovery. A period of recovery, against a backdrop of financial upheaval within the football community which has seen one club go to the wall and the inevitably that others will follow.

We have a handy placed position in the league, a manager whom for his critics, has exceeded mine and quite a few others pre season expectations (to date), a positive outlook on new season tickets figures and an apparent stability off the field.

I remember @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler comments regarding it could take up to 5 years to recover from the Rahic era. It's 13 months since he got the boot and things Imo are improving.

The aim surely will be to push on and see the season out with promotion. That's achievable, very much with Bowyer at the helm. He could be ousted as some suggest but at what cost? No guarantee of better results or promotion but a guarantee that a pay off to Bowyer would impact in the playing budget...

    Have a great day, all.

    Why McCall?

Seriously, is that the depth of thinking in looking for a solution. That ain't (as yet) needed.

    Lazy.

No i'm firmly bowyer in. On sat we had our main two strikers out and yet manged 26 shots.. People are saying this isnt promotion form yet we we have won just under half our games... If we win on thurs we will match the same amount of wins as last season.
People are quick to forget how shit we were last season. Demand too much... We are the best performing team out of the 4 relegated sides.

Hardly a representative sample, I know, but those in my pub waiting to set off for the match are all to a man saying Bowyer deserves another transfer window. No one mentioned McCall.

I will guarantee you now as long as we have a chance of promotion that Bowyer is going nowhere, crazy to even think it would happen. I think there are pros and cons to the cheap tickets, its not as rosy as some think, but 14,000 crowds in league 2 is pretty much unheralded for the division. Remember historically we are quite regularly below 10,000 in most season in the lower leagues.
Don't forget the Rahic effect when it comes to this years squad, Bowyer still has his hands tied to an extent. As i've said if he fails this season he goes without a shadow of a doubt but at this moment we are still in it despite the dour football witnessed for most of the season. Look i'm not overly keen on Bowyer but sacking him now is a non starter.

    Still Bowyer in for me.
Look at Liverpool took them years and multiple transfer windows to get that good.
If bowyer had lost the previous 3 maybe but he clearly has the mangement skills to put us in good stead. We win our next three we would be flying up the table.
Guys just need some damn patience. If he got us top of the league winning every game he would have been in championship by now. Patience.

Stuart might well ‘energise’ the crowd but we’ve seen it twice before that as a manager he fails to energise the players

Ok, Rhodes and Ryan Sparks can prpduce a poor labour looking campaign together and put on a digital screen that's just bigger than the screen in my Merc and say they want 20k season tickets..

WE'RE NOT SELLING 20K SEASON TICKETS WITH BOWYER AS MANAGER!

Even if he takes us to div 1.

McCall would maybe get us close and play better football but he's not the answer now long term but would be tempted until the end of the season contract.

No manager was stopping relegation last season.

We were down from game one, get over it.

That's not a genuine choice, it's just a worst case scenario.

Give me a realistic decision to make.

The OP is living in cloud cuckoo land along with his sidekick @Fordy117@Fordy117.

    1) We're not languishing in the middle to lower parts of the division.
    2) We've had injuries to key midfielders and probably used Akpan and Devine more than Bowyer intended.
    3) McCall is a proven failure as a manager at this club and his possession based, no end product football would soon have the OP setting up another pointless thread about why we haven't got a +100 goal difference.
    4) Why would McCall want to come back after the way he was allegedly treated by one part of the ownership who's still here?
    5) McCall's last 10 games here result in 9 defeats I believe, and you talk about getting the most out of the players.
    6) The poll shows currently that more than 3 -1 don't want him to return.
    7) Do you want Abbot back too?
    8) I don't think any manager could galvanise the public to buy 20k season tickets. Getting back into league one, is just putting us back where we should have been when Rhodes sold up.
    9) We have harmony back at the club, why rock the boat?
    10) I believe Bowyer will get us up, just not in the style and way you're expecting.

If we aspire to be a division one side then we need to be playing like one now, and yet clearly we're not...

Bingo Tony. Finally someone talking sense on here. We are in the playoffs blah blah blah. I'd dread to think what would happen next season if we scraped up under Bowyer. Luton prime example, played their way out of this league and went on to get promoted to the Championship. This team is miles away from challenging next year if the miracle happened and we got promoted under Bowyer.

The 1st time McCall was here he wasn't experienced enough. The 2nd time was some of the best football I've seen at VP in a long time but he was working under a maniac. I never wanted him to go so I'd welcome him back with open arms. I really can't see Bowyer bringing us success. How many transfer windows has he had? How many players has he brought in? How many formations have we played? He still doesn't have a settled side. Personally I'd cut him loose right now
